Remix Artifact SOGC

The contents of my artifact consist of the underlying message, that which being visual learning is a
more efficient method of teaching rather than textual-based education. Accompanying this message is an
argument to support my claim that consists of examples and sources as well as an assortment of visual stimulus
in the form of an infomercial. Throughout the entire video I go in depth concerning the subject of my topic and
provide concrete evidence as to why I believe visual learning to be a superior form of education. I was aiming
to properly exemplify what I believe is a fundamental problem within the education system, that of which
being how it doesn’t accommodate every type of student, leaving many of them to feel discouraged or
frustrated.

The intention of my artifact I was attempting to convey was to demonstrate the intrinsic value visual
learning has and why it undoubtably deserves to be implemented in the education system to a greater extent
than it already is. Basically, the objective was to effectively “sell” or persuade my targeted audience the overall
concept of visual learning and why it is a better method compared to textual learning and should be used more
in academic institutions and the education system in America as a whole. My targeted audience being high-
level executives in any administrative position of an educational based organization and/or academic
institution. To a lesser extent, my audience can also include employees of a city-based school district such as
teachers and other assorted faculty staff such as principles, counselors, and deans, as well as the students
themselves.

It is essential the point of artifact gets across because many of these organizations and institutions to
realize not every student’s way of learning and absorbing information is the same, and in turn they aren’t
provided with support and encouragement. They instead will forever view education in a negative light simply
because their brains are better suited for a more visual approach and text-based learning doesn’t aid them in
gathering information as efficiently. Personally, this sentiment has always resounded with me as I have felt
similarly about the way I was taught, as I’ve always thought of myself as a more visual learner and reading
was never my strong suit. I believe many others feel likewise and I’m intending to shed light concerning those
individuals and this very prevalent subject. In the beginning, my intention was to determine whether visual
learning was a more effective then textual learning so it was more of an endeavor in terms of research, bit of a
scavenger hunt of sorts where I had to collect sources and deduce a conclusion. In contrast, now I view this
project as more of a crusade where I’m seeking to convince my peers that my theory is validated and has merit,
to provide insight in an obscure but relevant issue that deserves attention and recognition. I feel as though that
goal was achieved through my artifact and hopefully more people investigate this matter as I genuinely do
believe this is an issue that needs to be addressed.

A great assistance in constructing my artifact were all the sources I found and their respected author
that formed the basis of my message. All sources deal with how learning, education, and visual media, three of
which explore how the brain works and why visuals are its preferred means of obtaining information. I’ve
learned a great deal of information I didn’t expect to encounter when I first began researching this inquiry, and
my methods of creating an engaging and well-crafted artifact. One of which is how I obtained my sources and
implementing them effectively as well as revising and reviewing my artifact myself through the feedback of
others. I’ve also learned greatly about the psychology of our minds and how our brain processes and gathers
knowledge as well as how there are a variety of other means and forms of media that can be used to
communicate a message.
