Dear Sir/Madam,

RE: APPLICATION TO SEEK GUIDANCE ON HOW TO REGISTER FOR ATRANSITION HOME.

Greetings from Wells of Hope Ministries!

Wells of Hope (WOH) is an indigenous Christian Non-Government Organisation committed to

improving the lives of prisoners and their families, our main focus being children with a parent in
prison. We restore hope to these children by giving them free quality education, clothing and food
so that they enjoy their childhood regardless of the absence of their primary care giver. Currently
two schools; Wells of Hope Junior school and Wells of Hope high school with a total number of 147
children in both schools located in Semuto Nakaseke District. Wells of Hope safe home is a program
under Wells of Hope Ministries where women that have been released from incarceration and
cannot immediately go back to their communities can find shelter. It is a half way home where
women are provided with accommodation facilities free of charge, are given meals, counselling
services (psycho social support) and get to acquire a skill that can enable them as they reintegrate
into their communities after serving their prison sentence.

We would wish to register this women’s home into a Transition Home where we are able to foster
these kids for not more than a month since we get challenges of children whose parents are on life
sentence and those serving long terms in prison are left homeless and those in our schools have no
home to go to during holidays and yet we don’t have full mandate to stay with these children yet we
would love to keep them with out any worries. That is why we are hereby request and seek for your
guidance and support on how we can register our home to be a fully registered and recognized
Transition home. The best way to deal with trauma is for children to grow up in a family, it’s under
this justification that there is a need for each child with a parent in prison to have a home to call
their own.

Bethany Global has partnership with Wells of Hope to meet standards of best practice through
kinship care, Family strengthening and Foster care.WOH coordinates with prison authorities as well
as governmental authorities to ensure that children with a parent in prison enjoy their rights as a

1
child which include right to education, health, food, safe shelter and a chance to grow up in a family
where they can receive love.

The purpose of this letter is to request for guidance and advise on how we can register our home to
be a fully registered and recognized transition home in Uganda.

Attached is some of the works we do.

We look forward to your positive response.

Yours Sincerely,

Wells of Hope Ministries
