INTRODUCTION:

We the Jeevan Jyoti Charitable Trust (NGO) started from 2005 works for socio-economic development
programmes for the upliftment of the urban and rural downtrodden community. Also we involve in
various children programmes like conducting free tuitions, forming children clubs, giving
awareness on children issues.
Later this vision conceived to start a children Home called 'JEEVAN JYOTI ASHRAM' which brought a
new hope in the lives of the Orphan, Semi-orphan and unprivileged children from various
background. At present 100 children are there and they are blessed, nourished and given a good care.
BRIEF DETAILS ABOUT ORGANIZATION:We the Jeevan Jyoti charitable trust (NGO) proudly running a
children home called Jeevan Jyoti Ashram which was started in the year 2005 in a rented house at
Khandagiri Bari,Bhubaneswar. These children are selected without any discrimination of caste, color,
religion or creed. They are trained to attain the capacity to stand on their own legs at the time they
leave
our home and also we educate their basic rights and taught to participate in their own development,
So that, they will come to know they are valued, cared for and feel loved in the
Community.

Methodology:
We have been running the Orphanage with local donations and contributions only. We are mobilizing
both cash and kind. We have limited resources to take care of about 100 orphan / semi orphan / street
children. But, day by day number of children is increasing due to various reasons. We need additional
support from the donors and philanthropists to meet the needs of increasing orphan / semi orphan /
street children in our home. We seek support for about 10 years. Meanwhile, we will sustain to
mobilze continuos local donations through exhibiting our good work and service. We are planning to
build permanent home by aquiring land from the donors and philanthropists.

This home will have one Superintendent, one Care Taker each for boys & girls hostels who besides
handling day-to-day administration and will look after the hostel as wardens. One each Teacher for
boys & girls Hostels, One each vocational instructor for boys & girls hostels, One cook, One attendant,
One Watchman each for boys & girls hostels are provided for the home. A doctor is appointed as Center
Medical Attendant on honorarium and all the inmates are provided with health check-up, medicines,
food, cosmetics, one set of books and two sets of uniform every year.

Impact analysis:

The project will be monitored at regular intervals through a “Project Advisory Committee (PAC)”
constituted with the Secretary of the organization as convener/member secretary. Authorities from the
Funding Agency, Local District Administration etc., will be nominated as members to the project
advisory committee. This committee would meet periodically once in 3 months and advise on various
aspects concerning implementation of project and review of the programs/activities undertaken. The
Project Advisory Committee will also review the accounts and audited statements.

BACKGROUND:
India, one of the largest democracies in the World has a Population of over 1.2 billion as of today.
Most of the people in India are living below the poverty line and are facing many problems, viz., lack of
food, shelter, health care, education and un-employment and thus the people live in utter poverty.
Poverty has always been recognized as the major cause of death and disability. Poverty brings on lack
of safe Drinking Water, inadequate food, poor health care and poor education. All these will have
effect on health.

The poverty situations in Indian context, reflects in the State of Odisha is blink. The families in slums
and rural areas are normally large and often face the problems and the earning members of the family
unable to cope up with the situations. Sometimes they may not get work to earn. Eventually they
migrate to other places in search of livelihood or starve to meet death or disease. The struggle of the
poor starts in the womb. The child in the womb suffers from the consequences of malnutrition in the
mother.

The families that are living in slum areas of Bhubaneswar are daily wages labourers. They are living in
utter poverty. They are unable to fetch their square meal a day. Some of the parents admitting their
children in the private English medium schools. But they are unable to continue their children become
they are not able to pay the fees in the school. That’s reason the children are being dropped from the
school.

THE NEED
Poverty has always been recognized as the major cause of disease, death, and disability. Now the

World Health Organization (WHO) came out with the statement the Poverty is the ‘ruthless killer’.
Large families in rural areas often face these problems and the earning members of the family unable
to cope-up with the situations and survival becomes difficult. The relief often comes in the form of
death leaving the children as orphans and destitute. These children starve without shelter, food and
clothing and roam along the streets.

THE GLOBAL GOALS FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT


One of the important The Global Goal is by 2025, ensure that all girls and boys have access to quality
early childhood development, care and preprimary education so that they are ready for primary
education. The burden lives in the citizens who can afford to support children who are in desperate
need and helping the children to pursue their education.

TARGET GROUP OF THE PROJECT:


Children 6-18 years of age who are mislay their parents and poor families. The organization focuses on
disadvantaged children emphasizing children abandoned by one or both parents, children from poor
families, street children and children who have been abused and belong to poor socio economic
conditions.

PROJECT AREA:
The project is at Khandagiri, Bhubaneswar is a conductive site for the project. The place has all the
amenities where the children feel at home. The site is also calm and serene where the children will
grow up and nurture their talents in a healthy ambiance.
In Khandagiri, where the project has building with dormitories, dining hall, kitchen, toilets. The area can
be beautified and other art structure which will make the place a real home for the children. As the
project aims for the holistic development of children it will be an ideal place.

MODE OF OPERATION:
Jeevan Jyoti Ashram which has a long standing in the program will be undertaking the following...
 Training the staff that would be responsible for work.
 For all professional technical resource and the administrative assistance.
 Coordinating and follow-up of the program with above mentioned aims.
 External research facilities at any stages of time
 Project resource mobilization
 Experience share review meetings.

RESOURCES:
Staff: The Project is having the following Staff: Superintendent (Warden), Cooks and helper in addition
to the Project Manager and the Other Project Staff in the Headquarters Office to oversee the Project.

Building: The Home has five rented building structure for both theoretical and practical works and
also good accommodation for the children with all good amenities.

BUDGET:
The Budget Requested for one year for this Project is INR. 76, 44,000 (per year) (USD $ 10, 2353.16)
A fairly detailed Budget to implement the proposed activities is prepared and enclosed for better
understanding.

OUTPUTS, MONITORING, REPORTING AND EVALUATION:


All components will be consistently evaluated to measure effectiveness, efficiency, quality, usage, and
acceptability in the activities. These programs collect and analyze and use the data for effective
reflections. It is also for identification of the problems; potential gaps and required remedial actions
through participatory assessment and evaluation.

The overall supervision and evaluation will be done by the President. Monitoring and Reporting will be
carried out monthly/Quarterly on all activities. Different reporting forms have been used for reporting
about different activities.
The Project has monthly/quarterly reporting systems. On the basis of this, a compiled Management
Information System (MIS) and financial Statement will be prepared and submitted to the Donors by the
President.

Annual Report will be submitted to the Donors after completion of Project each Year and also an
Overall Report on the completion of the program.

CO-ORDINATION:
The Government requests NGO's to undertake programmes of Homes for poor, orphan and needy
children. Our Government's Policy is to encourage the voluntary agencies in undertaking programmes
to fight against the illiteracy and dropout children. Even the Local communities and agencies make
requests as per the need in their local areas.
PRINCIPLES AND VALUES:
Care, education and support should be governed by the following principles and values:
Respect: For human rights, ethics, confidentiality, informed consent, privacy, and individual dignity
should be maintained. Practices apply equally to poor and orphan children as to other individuals.
Fighting discrimination, enhancing respect of individual autonomy and human dignity and pursuing
informed consent are all relevant to orphans.
Equality: Affordable care of acceptable quality should be provided to all children regardless of gender,
age, race, ethnicity, and place of residence. More attention is to be given to those groups of the
children that have more problems to access care: orphans, girls, street children, the uneducated and
the poor.

CAPACITY:
Jeevan Jyoti Ashram is a full-fledged organization with a registration and recognition in India as a Non-
Governmental organization. Our Organization is having experienced and competent staff to undertake
and implement program activities. The Capacity building priorities are upgraded each year on the basis
of the need.
