Introduction

We the students of M.SC Nursing 2nd year went for AAMA GHARA
Bhubaneswar on 15th April, 2023. We moved towards home around 10: 00 am
and came back at 12:00 pm.
People’s forum founded the Children’s home “Aama Ghara” four years back and
it was inaugurated by Khordha Collector then on the foundation day of People’s
Forum i.e 27th December 2015.
It is working under “Child Welfare Committee (CWC)- a bench of judicial
magistrates (first class) u/s 27 (9) of the juvenile justice (care & protection of
children) and “District Child Protection Unit (DCPU). Aama Ghara follows the
juvenile justice act (JJ Act) and guidelines of DCPU.
There are total 42 children in Aama Ghara (27 girls and 15 boys). Out of these
42 children, 25 are school going.

Objectives of the visit

1. To enumerate the mission, vision and objectives of orphanage home.


2. To list functions of orphanage home
3. To prepare the organizational chart.
4. To describe the research activity.
5. To identify the records maintained in Aama ghara.
6. To explore the future plan

Mission: We are giving second birth to live their life happily with self-respect
and dignity and also trying to provide them a healthy and secured life.
Vision: To build “Aama Ghara” is a Model children home for the children’s and
accessible environment to increase their growth and development for their better
future.
Objectives:

 A home where no child is orphan.


 Children should stay in a healthy & child friendly environment.
 To give them love, affection, and care with a familiar environment.
 To provide them life skill training to live their life easily.
 To strengthens their education background with an extracurricular
activities.
 We fight for their rights like Right to life, name, protection, education,
participation, development and health care.

Functions

Education & Health care: It provides quality education to the inmates.

 It has a tie up with Saraswati Sishu Vidya Mandir School" for good education.
 All the inmates of our Children Home are reading in Saraswati Sishu Vidya Mandir
School, Niladri Vihar, Chandrasekharpur, Bhubaneswar, Odisha.
 The children are reading in different standards from class 1 to class 8.
 It also provides home tuition every evening.
 We are arranging Balvikash class every Sunday at Asha Kiran Children Home Shri
Prabhupada Rout, chartered accountant, a volunteer of Asha Kiran Foundation and his
team have been taking Balvikash Classes regularly for last 2 years.
 They impart basic knowledge of spirituality, behavior and yoga to the inhabitants
 Doctors regularly visit the home for health and dental check-up of the inhabitants.
 The girls are also admitted to the nearby hospital in case of emergency.
 The expenditure in this regard is fully borne by the foundation.

Nutrition Care: The foundation provides nutritious and healthy food four times a day
(Breakfast, Lunch, Snacks and Dinner) to its inhabitants.

 The diet is being provided as per the guide lines set by Government Of Odisha.
 A food menu in this regard is also displayed in the Children Home.

Research Activity

No such research activity done but follow up of child was necessary till 2 yrs. after
adoption.

Highlights of the Year 2018-19

 4 children were adopted from Aama Ghara in 2018-19.

 2 children were reunited with their family this year.

Raja Celebration (Festival of Womanhood), Rakhi Celebration, Independence


Day , Kumar Poornima (Festival of Boats), Diwali Celebration, Children’s Day,
Foundation Day, Christmas Celebration, New Year, Republic Day, Saraswati
Pooja, Holi Celebration,

Other Initiatives:

 Besides celebrating important events, festivals, birthdays of every child is


celebrated with equal vigour and energy.

 Visit of Medical professional on a monthly basis – A senior Paediatrician


visits the home twice a month to assess the health condition of the
children and provide them medical support as and when necessary.

 Regular visits to schools of the children to ascertain their problems.


Progress and other issue

 Monthly review of the Child Care Institute by the Home committee of


Child Welfare Committee Khordha.

Some of the major initiatives undertaken at the Centre include

  Process initiated towards getting government recognition for the centre -


The organization has formally applied for getting government approval for
the children's home. In response to which representatives of CWC
(children welfare committee) had visited the centre to conduct an initial
assessment)

  Celebrations of important days/ functions in the home campus.

 Besides celebrating important events, festivals, birthdays of each and


every child is celebrated with equal vigor and energy

  Visit of Medical professional on a monthly basis - A senior Pediatrist


visits the home twice a month to assess the health condition of the
children and provide them medical support as and when necessary.

  Regular visits to schools of the children to ascertain their problems.


Progress and other issues .

CONCLUSION

Orphanage is a residential institution, or group home, devoted to the care of orphans


and other children who were separated from their biological families. These provide
shelter to the children who do not have parents or either of the parents left. They
provide education, nutrition to the children and helps them to cherish each and every
moment.
