ACTIVITY TITLE: Case Analysis
CASE STORY TITLE: The Children of Sitio Mabolon

Conflict Identification

There are several issues in the case of Sitio Mabolon, the most serious of which being
malnourishment, with 22 children suffering from marasmus and kwashiorkor. This nutrient
deficiency condition is caused by children's loss of appetite. The following issue is that the Village
of Sitio Mabolon has limited access to government social services and has received only a limited
outreach program from non-government groups. Finally, because they can't afford food and can
only provide food from their gardens, they can't get a complete diet meal that contains the
minerals and vitamins their bodies require.

Plan of Action
The government should implement programs to assist the community of Sitio Mabolon and take
prompt action not only in this village but also in other distant areas that are suffering similar
problems. We may also seek assistance; there are organizations all around the world that could
assist kids, such as UNICEF, which offers aid to children all over the world. The community of Sitio
Mabolon might also try to cultivate various types of fruits and vegetables to assist them obtain
the necessary nutrients and vitamins. Parents should also help their children with their food and
health; they should never allow them go hungry or die on the floor.

Reflection

We've all seen photographs of hungry children on the internet, I'm sure. There are many children
suffering from malnutrition all over the world; this is due not just to poverty, but also to a lack of
government support. Malnutrition has a long-term negative impact not just on a child's physical

health, but also on their cognitive development, trapping them in a cycle of poverty. The
government should develop a good healthcare system so that malnourished children can receive
prompt assistance. Also, consider investing in a program such as feeding programs. We might
also contribute to non-governmental groups that assist those suffering from poverty and
starvation.
