For 40 bars of soap (converted to SI)

Coconut Oil 1162.33 g

Olive Oil 1332.43 g

Palm Oiil 1332.43 g

Guava extract 40.00 g

Makahiya extract 40.00 g

NaOH Pellets (Lye Solution) 566.99 g

Water 1332.43 g

Lavander Essential Oil 229.06 g

This is a formulation of 30 % oil, 35% olive oil , 35% Palm oil with a 30% NaOH Lye solution and
4% Essential Oil.

For Extracts: 1 teaspoon for every pound of oil (sum of oil)

1 teaspon of extracts per ounce of the soap product

Cold Process:
Step 1: Boil – Mix Olive oil, coconut oil, and palm oil in a pot then boil the mixed oil up to 70
degrees Celsius. This would make the saponification faster.
Step 2: Mix – Make a lye solution (20% NaOH) by dissolving the NaOH pellets to water, be sure
to wear proper protective equipment. Then mix the hot oil to the Makahiya extract and Guava
extract begin the saponification which will convert the oil to soap by producing glycerol and
fatty acid salt.
Step 3: Saponify – For the 3rd process mix the lye solution to the Oil and extract solution to begin
the saponification which will convert the oil to soap by producing glycerol and fatty acid salt.
Step 4: Stir– Stir the mixture to speed up the saponification and release the oxygen inside until it
reaches the stage of tracing.
Step 5: Tracing – In this stage, the solution should be thick and hard to stir but not hard enough
to be a soap. This can be identified when a trace of the solution or the mixture in your
stirrer. The essential oils are added instead of adding it before heating so it will not evaporate
during the process. Mix and stir again to spread the essential oils.
Step 6: Molding – Put the mixture to a rectangular mold to shape it. In this process the shape of
soap is formed in any shape you like but for the sake of making the strips it is recommended to
make rectangular soap.
Step 7: Curing – This is a process where the soap is let to cool and evaporate the water used in
the process in a well-ventilated space for 2 to 4 weeks. This last process would give the soap a
firmer texture that would last longer in a moist environment.
