Methodology

Our main constituents for obtaining glass composition 47S are:


 Sodium Silicate (Na2SiO3)
 Calcium Silicate (CaSiO3)
 Sodium Phosphate (NaPO3)
These were formed by (47 % SiO2, 26 % CaO, 21 % Na2O and 6 % P2O5 in weight ratio).
1. To achieve the given composition the availability of chemicals was checked

CaO Available -
Na2O Not Available Na2HCO3(Baking soda)
P2O5 Not Available Na2HPO4

2. To achieve the phosphate composition we used the following reaction

2 NaHCO3(s) → Na2CO3(s) + CO2(g) + H2O(g) 200˚C
Na2CO3(s) → Na2O(s) + CO2(g) 851 ˚C
