4 Bit Johnson Counter

The document describes designing a 4-bit Johnson's counter in Tinkercad. It includes a circuit diagram and truth table of the counter. The procedure explains how to implement the counter using two IC 7474 chips containing D flip-flops. Each flip-flop's clock is connected to a push button to generate clock pulses. The counter can be cleared using another push button. Screenshots show the counter before and after a clock pulse in the Tinkercad simulation. The conclusion states that a 4-bit Johnson's counter was successfully implemented in Tinkercad and its functionality was verified against the theoretical truth table and state diagram.

  • How does quantum computing actually work in simple terms?

Quantum computing is a branch of computing that uses the laws of quantum mechanics to process information in fundamentally new ways.

  • How do my kidneys work to clean my blood each day?

The kidneys are two bean-shaped organs located in the lower back that play a crucial role in filtering and cleaning the blood.

  • What is a magnetic field and how does it work?

A magnetic field is a fundamental concept in physics that describes the influence exerted by magnets and moving electric charges. It is one part of the electromagnetic field, the other part being the electric field. In simple terms, a magnetic field can be thought of as an invisible force field that extends through space and affects magnetic materials and moving charges. At each point, the field has both a strength (magnitude) and a direction, making it what mathematicians call a vector field.

Aim : Design four bit Johnson's counter in Tinkercad .

Software : Tinkercad

Circuit Diagram and Truth Table:

Waveform and state diagram of 4 Bit Johnson Counter:

Procedure:

1. For implementing N bit Johnson Counter we need N number of Flipflops.

2. For implementing the circuit in the tinkercad I had used two IC 7474 as per
IC it contains two DFF.
3. In the tinkercad I had connected all clocks of D FFs to a Push Button which is
Pulled up High, to generate a clock pulse we just need to press Tactile Switch.
4. I had connected the preset of First FF to Push button which is also Pulled up
High, so we can insert 1 into Q0
5. All clear signals were shorted and connected to the Push button using which
one can clear the content of the counter.
Tinkercad Implementation:

Before Simulating

After Clock Pulse:

CONCLUSION:
Thus, I have implemented a 4 bit Johnson's counter in a Tinkercad using IC7474. I have also
implemented the same circuit in Logisim for a better understanding purpose. Thus I have
checked the theoretical truth table and state diagram in Tinkercad .
