Going Back to the Roots – Rediscovering Core Values

The third and last mental trainning Lecture is based on the values and more specifically on
values from the point of view of "Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)"

The idea is to make questions to ourself about diferents aspects in order to look for answers
about ourself and to organize our thoughts.

The valuation is done in different aspects such as:

The valuation of oneself

Valuing our own lives

Valuing our relationships with others

The assessment of how we act in the presence of difficulties

Of course there are other evaluations such as Parenting, Personal Growth, Leisure, Spirituality,
Health, Work, Community and Environment, Family Relationships, Intimate Relationships, Social
Relationships, etc.

All these evaluations define who I am and what I do, and them are also related to music and
performances.

But what are the values?

Values is what really matters to us, is why we do things, is what we want to be and what we
want to fight for, in other words it is our reason for life

Values are just words that try to define what we feel from the deepest of myself, therefore
there are no good or bad.

It is important to understand that Values are totally different from goals. Goals are something

1
we can achieve, while values are what motivate us to fight to achieve our goals

"values are like a compass–they help us make choices based on the directions in which we want
our lives to go" (Portland Psychotherapy Clinic)

By looking for answers in oneself we can realize if we are acting according to our values and if
our own life is balanced.

On stage this reflection can help us understand about our fears and motivations.
