4th & 5th Grade Math Teacher

To Whom It May Concern,

Brandon Martinazzi was a student teacher in my 4 th and 5th grade math class for approximately five weeks.
In those five weeks he observed for approximately one week. Then he taught half of the students face to
face while others were on their chrome books at home, during COVID, hybrid instruction. There are two
sections of 4th grade math and two sections of 5th grade math. There are 33 fourth grade students, five of
those students have GIEP’s and there are no students with a learning disability. There are 37 fifth grade
students and only one of those students has GIEP. Three students have a learning disability.
Brandon taught a week long (5 day) unit plan in 5 th grade. He covered topics such as, area and perimeter,
graphing and time. His lessons were age appropriate and creative. During this five week period Brandon
also taught math to one group of 5th graders. He followed the Go Math curriculum and introduced decimal
numbers and comparing decimals to the students.
Brandon also taught math to one group of 4 th grade students. Again, he followed the Go Math curriculum.
He reviewed basic fact multiplication and introduced double digit multiplication. He also taught strategies for
solving word problems.
While student teaching in my classroom Brandon did assist with several duties including daily lunch count,
correcting homework, copying papers, monitoring students during bathroom breaks and at recess.
With only about a week left of student teaching our school district had to move to virtual learning for all
students. During this time Brandon was able to observe students online and assist during classroom
(online) instruction. He was extremely helpful in getting the materials copied, organized and prepared for
each student in 4th and 5th to use during virtual learning online.
Brandon is a very friendly and helpful person. In this short time he was able to make a connection with
several of the students and staff members.
