The stage is divided in three scenes, the living room,

the village center and the shore by the river. Sohni
slowly gains consciousness as she wake up on shore.
She coughs out the water and slowly gains strength to
stand up. Thunder crackles in the background, merged
with sounds of loud wind.

SOHNI
Oh my god!! What happened to me!?

Sohni says repeatedly with sorrow and despair as she realizes her
feet have been inverted.

SOHNI
He did this to me…

She says as she begins walking towards the village center. At the
village center, Amjad and Rehman sit among a few men sitting
around a fire, singing music and drinking wine. The men stop
singing as Rehman notices Sohni.

REHMAN
Sohni…? Is that you…?

SOHNI
(Demonically)
You did this to me…

REHMAN
Amjad look! It’s Sohni!

AMJAD

Sohni?! Where have you been? Guess what I did…

Sohni stands still as Amjad walks towards her. The men continue
signing and talking.

AMJAD
I killed that man… the one who’s been harassing you all this time… I did it all for you,
my love…

Why aren’t you saying anything…? why are you wet?

Amjad says as he pushes away a lock of her wet hair. Sohni still
standing unfazed by his actions or words.

SOHNI
You did this to me…

AMJAD
What…?

SOHNI
(Shouts angrily)
You did this to me!!

Amjad falls back on to the ground, shook by Sohni’s reaction. The

men sitting the background stop singing as they turn their heads
towards her.

SOHNI
You killed Mahiwal… you killed my love… you killed me.

AMJAD
What do you mean your love? YOUR MY WIFE!!

Amjad says as he gets back up and confronts Sohni. A thick smoke

starts to linger as thunder cackles far in the sky.

AMJAD
I knew you weren’t fucking loyal!! You whore!! Mother was right about!! Yes, I killed
that fucking buffalo herder and I would do it all again!!

Rehman slowly starts walking towards Amjad for supporting him.

REHMAN
Thats right son! You tell her who’s boss!

Sohni shifts her head towards Rehman, studying his expressions as

an evil smile forms on her face.

REHMAN
It’s like I always say woman should always…

Before Rehman could finish his sentence, the lights flash blindingly
before turning off completely. The lights turn on in ten seconds,
Rehman is now covered in red fabric similar to the one that is now
wrapped around Sohni’s hands.

AMJAD
Father?!

With the lights on Rehman falls to the ground dead. The men sitting
round the fire all watch in fear. As Amjad turns and tends to his
father, the men in background all scream in horror as they run off
stage and hide.

AMJAD
Wha-what h-how y-y-you did t-that? P-please… l-let m-me go… Y-your m-my w-wife…
I d-didn’t k-know wh-what I-I was doing! I swear! Oh my god! Your Feet!? Oh my God!!

SOHNI
You knew exactly what you were doing…

Amjad stands on his knees pleading for his life, while he holds his
father’s dead body.

AMJAD
Please I swear… It was my mother and father that convinced me to do it!! Please spare
me! You can leave me! I won’t care, I won’t say anything! Please just spare me!!

SOHNI
Spare you? Why on earth should I spare you? You forcibly married me and killed my true
love… I will never spare you…

The lights flicker again, matching to the sound of thunder. Once

lights are stable again, Amjad finds his neck wrapped in the red
fabric. He feels it with his fingers before fall to the ground.
