What is your opinion on the legalization of same-sex marriage on the basis of the following:

a. Biblical point of view

As an evangelical Christian ministry committed to the authority of Scripture as the inspired Word of
God, Focus on the Family believes that sex is given by God as an expression of love to be shared and
enjoyed exclusively between a husband and wife. Further, we are convinced that the Bible leaves no
room whatsoever for confusion or ambiguity where homosexual behavior is concerned. The Scripture
both explicitly and implicitly regards it as falling outside of God’s intention in creating man and woman
as sexual beings who bear His image as male and female. As for same-sex “marriage,” we see no place
for it within the context of a Christian worldview. According to the Bible, marriage is heterosexual by
definition. Jesus, when expressing his understanding of the scriptural foundation for the divine purpose
and design in marriage, referred to its origins in the Creation account: “From the beginning of creation,
God made them male and female. For this cause a man shall leave his father and mother, and shall
cleave to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh…” (Mark 10:6-8, quoting Genesis 2:24). In our
opinion, the clarity of God’s truth on this matter remains unchanged in spite of hermeneutical methods
designed to justify homosexual behavior. This is a religious belief and point of view. Your religion is no
required to except same-sex marriage or participate in it. In the US there is the thing with the First
Amendment about the government not make laws respecting an establishment of religion. So religion
should not be used a reason to deny same-sex marriage. A civil marriage has nothing to do with a
religious marriage. The government does not recognize a religious marriage without the civil marriage.
So if you don’t like same-sex marriage, then don’t marry someone of the same sex.

b. Fundamental right of an individual to choose the same partner to spend their lives with.

Every person has the right to choose his life partner and it is a fundamental right. People against
same sex relationships often cite Leviticus, but that book also claims wearing different types of fabric is a
sin, to take that with a grain of salt. In the past, the Catholic Church had has unions between members
of the same sex, so I don't know why now this is a thing. IMO, if you want to get married, get married.
So long as you pay your taxes and don't bother other people, you should be allowed to be happy and if
the person you're with is the same sex as you then so be it.
