Give to the Max Day 2020 Sets New Generosity Record With $30.4 Million in Donations
GiveMN reports results of 12th annual statewide giving holiday

MINNEAPOLIS, Nov. 20, 2020 —The 12th annual Give to the Max Day was the most generous yet, with
more than 6,100 nonprofits and schools across the state raising $30.4 million during the online
fundraiser for organizations across Minnesota, well ahead of the $21.6 million high mark set last year.

Organizers at GiveMN plan the annual event to serve as a kick-off to the busy end-of-year giving period.
It’s a major fundraiser for many organizations across the state each year, and took on new meaning in
2020 as many causes are adapting their services and fundraising plans in light of the COVID-19
pandemic.

“If there’s one bright spot in 2020, it would be how people have stepped up and generously donated in
record amounts every time we’ve asked,” said Jake Blumberg, executive director of GiveMN. “We saw
that trend continue through Give to the Max Day, which will provide a boost to nonprofits and schools
who are meeting tremendous need in communities across Minnesota.”

Donations were made from all 87 Minnesota counties and 11 Native nations which share the same
geography, all 50 states and 32 countries around the world. Throughout the day, 138 nonprofits and
schools won a share of the $100,000 bonus prize pool — all made possible by GiveMN and the
continued generosity of the Bush Foundation. Golden Ticket prize grants were awarded every 15
minutes of the day among nonprofits and schools that received donations. In addition, this year’s grand
prize winner of the $10,000 Super-Sized Golden Ticket was the Big Stone Food Shelf, a program of
Prairie Five Community Action Council in West Central Minnesota.

In an effort to help donors make a hyper-local difference with their dollar, this year’s theme of
#GiveWhereYouLiveMN encouraged Minnesotans to give to those who need it most in their
communities. And thanks to a partnership with American National Bank, donors could also search on
GiveMN.org for organizations that reported being significantly impacted by COVID-19 and for those led
by or serving Black people, Indigenous people and people of color (BIPOC).
