Music Teacher Reflection

In the future, I would like to become a high school or middle school band teacher. The

reason for this is that me and many of my friends favorite part of middle school and high school

was band, and we not only enjoyed the music that we played, but the connections and memories

we made on trips and in the classroom, and I would like to help others experience those

connections and build memories of their own, along with building their relationship with music.

One of my long-term goals as a music educator is to one day get my doctors in a music field and

work at a university with others who are expanding their musical experience and either want to

play more music or become a music educator themselves. This goal will satisfy me because I

will be helping students achieve their own goals, or I will help students enjoy another aspect of

life by performing more music with different people. Another goal I have as a music educator is

to find pieces that not only incorporate band instruments, but string instruments and vocalists as

well in order to have concerts where the band, orchestra and choir all perform together on a

piece. This goal will satisfy me professionally because in my music student career, I have never

seen all 3 groups perform together, but I have heard many pieces where it is done, especially in

movies and TV shows, and I feel like the students and peer instructors would like to see this feat

accomplished. This will also satisfy me personally because I will have done something that is not

usually done for students, and they will have an experience that will live with them for many

years to come, and will inspire them to do great things as well.
