Lesson Topic: Polishing performance, increasing accuracy and effect of articulations and dynamics
Prior Knowledge: Upcoming concert, the students can play through all of the pieces but are struggling
with dynamic and articulation accuracy
Materials Needed:
Procedures*
1) Introduction: Ask students why it is important to improve music, point discussion towards
articulations and dynamics.
2) Readiness: Discuss professional ensembles and how articulations are clear and dynamics are

4) Discussion / playing their instrument activity: Play through the music, focusing on circled/marked
articulations and dynamics
5) ‘Re-reading’ Activity: Listen to the recording just taken, and as it plays, have students highlight the
articulations and dynamics that could have been performed better/more accurately.
6) Formative Assessment: On a pre-printed worksheet, have students write down which parts could have
been improved, and how the students would improve them.
