SUMMARY:

President Rodrigo Duterte established Energy Investment Coordinating Counting (EICC) to

simplify the granting of license and permits for large-scale investments. The EICC reduced the
approval times for major projects to 30 days instead of 3.5 years. If not permitted within 30 days,
it will be automatically approved within 5 days. According to BMI research, the current power
generation for the construction in the Philippines is 7300 MW. Coal-fired plants are the major
source of energy in Philippines. The energy consumption has grown to 10%, last year and is
estimated that in the coming decades the country will be needing 12,300 MW of energy. Coal-
fired plants play a big role in the energy generation in the Philippines. 80% of the 7300 MW is
currently produced by Coal-fired plants that supplies many consumers in Philippines. It can
make the capacity of Philippines’ energy generation to double. Solar farm also helps produce
energy to supply the consumers. It only uses the sun heat to produce energy so it is a renewable
way of generating energy.

REACTION:

Philippines is a good place to live and a fun place to stay, it has many resources but also has
lackings. One of this is the production of energy for the people. There are many ways how to
generate energy but only some of it are not enough to supply sufficient energy to all citizens in
Philippines. It is good that our government have planned something to generate more power that
is more than Philippines’ current energy supply. Through this plans we can boost the capacity of
our country’ energy supply. But some of this plans can be harmful to our surroundings and to us.
One of the example is Coal-fired plants. It is true that it can supply us more energy than other
power plants but coal plants produce large amount of smoke that can cause the air more polluted.
This can be prevented if power plants would be responsible on their waste. In our ttime now, we
cannot live without electricity so even if it cost much and sacrifices much we still need to do
something to produce and supply energy for the citizens in the Philippines. President Rodrigo
Duterte is a great leader that thinks about his countrymen and it is the reason he is making
decisions that can help Philippines be in a good condition. The government is making their move
to make the Philippines a place for comfortable for Filipinos to live and making sure that soon in
the future there will be lesser and lesser Filipinos who will sacrifice to other countries to work.
