Human Sexuality

Human sexuality refers to the way people would express their sexual intimacy and related

sensation between humans. It borders on how a person is oriented sexually and probably things

that cause sexual arousal. When we talk about human sexual activity, there is more to it than just

physical activity (Burns, 2010). The hearts and minds of the participants are significantly

impacted. In the recent past, this topic has spread all over social media that the government could

not assume it. Different countries reacted differently on the matter upon realizing what was

going on.

The most common countries that recently decided that same-sex marriage should be

made legal include Northern Ireland that joined the trend in October 2019, Ecuador June 2019,

Taiwan, on May 17, 2019, Austria, on January 1, 2019, and Australia on December 7, 2017.

Surprisingly, not one African country except South Africa has embraced the trend. Lately, same-

sex marriage ceremonies have become common occurrences on social media, and this has

brought confusion in the society. In the community, roles have changed quite significantly in the

above-highlighted countries. Joel Burns opens up and confesses how he proposed to his friend of

a masculine gender at the age of 13. He recalls the incident in nostalgia and breaks down several

times between his speech as they become fresh in his mind.

According to research, most governments have allowed same-sex marriage as a way to

enhance freedom despite the impacts that arise alongside. Joel points out several cases of youths

committing suicides out of the bullying and the harassment they have encountered in schools.

Victims' ages range from 13 to 17, and most of them are high school students (Burns, 2010). The

gay students are abused and discriminated against by their fellow students. While in the state of

being sidelined and mental torture, they luck someone they can share their feelings. Parents find

it unnecessary to discuss such topics with their sons and daughters. This situation has seen many

youths commit suicide in disconcerting actions. The majority of them hang themselves while

others shoot themselves or throw themselves down from great heights. In the face of these testing

times, Burns gives a message of hope to the vulnerable and assures them that things will get

better.

Children being the best gift of marriage, over the years, it has lost meaning. People are

more interested in satisfying their sexual pleasures, forgetting the need to reproduce and continue

a generation ("The Psychology of Sexuality," 2020). In 2015, the Mexican Supreme Court

dispensed a decision making it much more relaxed for lesbian and gay couples to wed. The

verdict gave same-sex pairs the right to pursue a court order against state laws banning gay

matrimonial; although it did not technically legalize same-sex unifications countrywide, it was a

crucial step in that direction. The former president of the United States of America, Barrack

Obama, during his visit to Africa, tried to appeal to Africans to embrace that direction. Still, then

most Africans found it to be activity farfetched that conflicts with their societal alignment. In his

speech, he was heard declaring his on how he viewed human sexuality and said he believes that

everyone has the right to be represented by the constitution. He went ahead and said that

everyone is equal before the law, a statement that is corresponding to Joel Burns’ way of

thinking.

In the world of today, every citizen of a country has his rights well protected by the

constitution, and a case of infringement attracts heavy legal penalties. The states that have

legalized same-sex marriages are stringent on their rights, with the same strictness they have

towards the rights of the straight citizens. Although many same-sex marriages have occurred in

the recent past, it has had minimal impact on the population expansions in the countries that have

it legal even though no babies are being made out of the union.
