Treatment

The series is a drama set in 1996 after the war in and around Croatia, following an aid
convoy. The show follows people on the convoy as they uncover both the bright and dark
side of this rebuilding nation in this new escapade.
Episode 3
Characters:

 Robert – A timid but enthusiastic writer trying to help out

 Paula – A kind policewoman taking her friends place on the convoy
 James – One of the ex-army convoy organizers
 Thomas – The other stricter convoy organizer
In this episode Robert, Paula and James arrive at the Croatian border after travelling
together. There Robert and Paula meet Thomas who along with James reads through the
brief with them. Almost as if perfectly timed as they finish reading the brief a helicopter flies
over scaring them before they laugh about it.
Waiting for their trucks to be inspected, Robert and Paula meet a middle-aged Croat man
who tells them a story about a man who has to send his mother-in-law out into the fields to
check for landmines because he can’t afford to lose any cows.
They finally make past the border and instantly notice a dip in quality of road as they go
from cement to gravel.
After a short drive they arrive at a refugee base where they drop off their aid and meet
some families. After talking to a family, they realise that what they have been dropping off
hasn’t been reaching the families. Realising this, Robert and Paula inform James and Thomas
who decide to leave. After not being allowed to leave by the military at the base they have
to smash through the gates as the episode draws to a close.
