Specialties of an Architect
I. Introduction
The Standards of Professional Practice (SPP) is a required document under Sec. 41 of A. No.
9266 and its Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR). It is both guide and laws followed by
practicing architects to further implement an architecture that is in accordance with truth and
facts.

The Architect's responsibility to the people and society is to design spaces that are safe and
pleasing to dwell in. It is also important to know that architects make sure that both the
building and the physical environment are further improved by strictly adhering to local and
international standards considering the public safety, health, and environment. According to
Section 1 of R.A. No. 9266, architecture is the art and science or profession of planning,
designing and constructing buildings, but architecture is more than that. It also includes the
blending of aesthetics, functions, and materials by applying various techniques and skills
acquired by some architects in different fields.

The Specialized Allied Services focuses on the specialties that an architect practices. It deals
with the specific expertise that focuses on the enhancement of the architectural interiors and
exterior components of a project. Some of the specialized architectural services are
Architectural Interiors, Acoustic Design, Historic, and Cultural Heritage Conservation and
Planning and many more. This document discusses the scope of services the architect must
do. As well as the manner of providing services and methods of compensation to protect
both the client and the architect of the job.

III. Conclusion
The SPP 203 is essential to introduce other specialized techniques and skills many architects
may offer. Also, the document both supports the client and architect by providing them with
laws and principles that will both act as a guide as the project progresses over time to avoid
mistakes and mishaps that are commonly experienced by people.
