91st Academy Awards Host Announced

After A Long Debate, Steve Buscemi’s Name Settled The Decision Pleasing All Parts Involved

LOS ANGELES, CA – February 12, 2019 – The Academy of Motion Pictures Arts officially
announced Steve Buscemi as the host of its 91st annual ceremony. After a months of speculation
and controversy, the producers reached an amicable decision. The Reservoir Dogs star received
the invitation with enthusiasm.

The Academy Awards producers struggled over a decision for a few months after Kevin Hart’s
decision to step down as Oscars host. But during a meeting on Friday last week, Buscemi’s name
came up and the acceptance was unanimous. They reached out to Buscemi who said yes right
away.

“I was surprised with the call, and definitely not expecting an invitation for hosting The
Academy Awards. But without batting an eye, I said yes. It’s a challenge, but I feel more than
prepared.” Said the 61-year-old actor. “It can’t be harder than hosting SNL, right?”

The actor, director, and screenwriter began his acting career in the mid-1980s, having
participated in 122 films so far. He is most-known for his roles in Fargo, Ghost World, and
Quentin Tarantion’s film Reservoir Dogs. Buscemi will be hosting The 91st Academy awards
on 24 February at the Dolby theatre in Los Angeles, Ca. It is broadcast live on ABC in the US,
on Sky in the UK.
