SPSS: Creating a New Variable

We illustrate the use of the base module in creating new variables and recoding existing
ones using the data of Table 14.1. We want to create a variable called overall evaluation
of the restaurant (Overall) that is the sum of the ratings on quality, quantity, value, and
service. Thus,
[DT]Overall = Quality + Quantity + Value + Service
