Monologue (noun) - 1 a. soliloquy b. a dramatic sketch performed by one actor c. the routine of
a stand up comic 2. a literary composition written in the form of a soliloquy 3. a long speech
monopolizing conversation. Definition provided by Merriam Webster
In 'plain' English:
● a moment in a play, film, or novel, where a character speaks without being interrupted
by any other characters.
● can be addressed to someone, or spoken to the actor’s self or to the audience
● another type of this speech is the interior monologue, (a character thinks personal
thoughts, which aren’t interrupted by speech or actions - often a voiceover is used when
this happens in film). This provides the inner thoughts of a character.
