Step 1

Create a new composition by clicking Menu->Composition->New Composition. Name

itFootage/Picture and change the resolution to 1024×768 and set the duration to 15 seconds.

Step 2
Put your Text, Image or Logo in the Footage/Picture composition.
Step 3
Create a new composition by clicking Menu->Composition->New Composition. Name it Advanced
Card Dance and change the resolution to 1920×1080 and set the duration to 15 seconds.
Step 4
Open the Advanced Card Dance composition and create a new solid by clicking Menu->Layer->New-
>Solid. Change the resolution to 1920×1080 and name it BG. The color is not important!
Step 5
Select the BG layer and after that go to Effect->Generate->Ramp and change the ramp shape to
linear ramp. Let’s change the start color to #FFFFFF and the end color to #636363.
Step 6
Create a new composition by clicking Menu->Composition->New Composition. Name it Map and
change the resolution to 1920×1080 and set the duration to 20 seconds.
Step 7
Open the Map composition and let’s create a new solid by clicking Menu->Layer->New->Solid.
Change the resolution to 1920×1080 and name it Background. The color is very important! Change it
to # A0A0A0.
Step 8
Let’s duplicate the Background layer and rename it Fractal noise then go to Effect->Noise&Grain-
>Fractal noise and apply it.
Step 9
We’re going to use the Fractal Noise effect to create a custom map for the Card Dance plug-in. As
you can see, I’ve used few properties and I animated them.
The great thing is if you change anything, the final result will be totally different. How is it going to
work with Card Dance plug-in though? The plug-in will use this Fractal Noise animation as a
reference. So when the color is 50% grey, the plug-in is not going to change anything. When the
color is white, then the pixels are not visible and if the color is black or darker than 50% grey, the
plug-in is going to distort the image. Here is a video illustration:

Step 10
I used an expression on the evolution property (time*150) and I animated
the Brightness and Contrastand Scale properties.
Step 11
Here’s my Fractal noise layer’s timeline. This part is optional so feel free to change it!

Step 12
Open the Advanced Card Dance composition and drop in the Map composition. Turn it off and then
drop in the Footage/Picture composition as well. Let’s select the Footage/Picture comp and go to Effect-
>Simulation->Card Dance and set the following properties. The gradient layer 1 is using the Fractal
Noise custom map so you have to change the source to Intensity 1.
Step 13
We’ll duplicate the Footage/Picture composition two times and change the Z Position Multiplier value
to -10 and -15 (in the second duplicate). You can change everything, just make sure the duplicated
versions have different properties, otherwise they will overlap each other.
Step 14
Go to Effect->Generate-> Fill and apply it. I used this color in the first duplicate #D25947 and I used
another color in the second duplicate #A74144.
Step 15
Let’s right click on the Map composition and go to Time->Time-Reverse Layer. I did this because I
want to make a reveal animation.
Step 16
Create a new solid by clicking Menu->Layer->New->Adjustment Layer. Change the resolution
to1920×1080 and name it Color Correction.
Step 17
Go to Effect->Color Correction->Curves and apply curves to make a little color correction.
Step 18
It’s not an important part of the Card Dance effect and it’s also optional but I used Magic Bullet
Misfire to create a little vintage vibe. Here’s my settings!

Conclusion
So as you can see, this is not too complicated or difficult of a technique. You can create a lot of great
things with this stuff and I hope it will help you create some cool animations. If you have a tutorial
request or you get stuck in the tutorial then you can drop a comment below. Thanks a lot for your
