Review of related literature (age- family income)

The utilization of family planning services varies according to the age of women. The
older the women gets; less contraception is needed. As women progress in age, their
need for contraception decreases which means their chances of conceiving is pretty
much low. Based on previous studies, it was demonstrated that younger women often
have a stronger fertility rate compared to older women. Also, women aged 35 and
above experience natural decline in fertility rate. Although there is no age limit for using
family planning, but it’s crucial for younger women.

In contrast with the responsible parenthood and reproductive health law in 2012,
Philippines government have shed highlight on the importance of family planning
practice to improve the overall health status of the country. A legislative foundation has
been laid down to achieve a remarkable reproductive health for all, therefore, it was
formally intruded that family planning services is identified as a pivotal intervention to a
sustainable demographic rate. Pro bono family planning services including the
distribution of contraceptives and consultation in almost 91% of the total number of
cities and municipalities’ health centers across the country which is covered and
administered by the Philippines health insurance corporation (PhliHealth). Therefore,
low income families won’t face a problem when obtaining such services as it’s
completely free and out of charge.
