Welcome to the Oracle Transportation Management Release 6.1
Transfer of Information Functional Overview for the Fusion
Transportation Intelligence (FTI) enhancements.

4
This session will prepare you to:
• Identify the new functionality included in this release
• Learn how to configure the new functionality
• Find additional release information and resources
This session will cover the new FTI features for Oracle Transportation
Management 6.0 and 6.1 including:
• Schema extension
• New industry dashboards
• Integration of analytics and operations including embedded BI and push of targets
• Usability including simpler KPI target definition
• Service provider updates
At the end of the session, we will provide a list of resources where you
can find additional information.

6
First, let’s discuss a high-level overview of the FTI functionality.

7
FTI is a business intelligence application built into OTM. You can click
links in the OTM menu to see the status of your metrics. This is the out-
of-the-box format. You can then add to or change this format to fit your
needs.
To access the page shown on the slide, click Transportation Intelligence
> Dashboard.

8
As an end user, you can:
• View existing dashboards and filter or drill-down to the information you need
• Run ad-hoc queries and format the results as needed
• Create your own dashboard with queries that matter to you

9
OBIEE is the tool that OTM development used to build FTI. OBIEE
enables OTM to query, format, and display the information you see in
FTI.
FTI is the set of rules that govern how data is moved from OTM to the
historical database, defines metrics, and displays the results.
On this slide, you can see OTM with its operational database to the left.
To the right is the historical database and the OBIEE presentation
server. Part of the work FTI performs is to move the operational OTM
data into the historical database which is optimized for read-only
queries along with pre-determined dimensions.

10
The operational database and historical database were already
mentioned. The process of moving this data between databases is
often referred to as ETL for Extract, Transform, and Load. The HD Star
Schema refers to the way data is organized in business intelligence
applications.
The data that is available to you is of two types: facts and dimensions.
• Facts are typically numbers and can be added together. Examples of facts include
shipment weight and number of orders.
• Dimensions are often a non-number type of data and allow you to group the facts.
Examples of dimensions include time periods, transport modes, and destination
locations.
The final result is a metric, a measurement of which you want to keep
track. You can visualize metrics in formatted reports. Or, you can
display multiple metrics on a dashboard.

11
Let’s talk about the schema extension enhancements.

12
The focus of the scheme extension enhancements is to add more
content to the Fact and Dimension tables. This will enable you to create
your own key performance indicators (KPIs) and dashboards.
Examples of areas where the data content has been extended are:
• Financials
• Event history
• Capacity commitment
• Bulk plan metrics
Filters have also been added for customers and branch offices.

13
Without getting into too much detail, the next few slides discuss the
metadata available to you in this latest version of FTI. Most of these
additions occurred in OTM 6.0 but this TOI highlights all additions made
in OTM 6.0 as well as OTM 6.1. To access these options, click
Transportation Intelligence > Ad Hoc Query.

Starting with the basics:

• There are additions to the metadata which allow you to refer to carriers by their
SCAC code and OTM alias.
• You can also view data by OTM domain name when you have users that have
access to see data across certain domains.
• The addition of perspective enables you to view data by the shipment perspective.
• You can also look at information related to FTI itself. For example, you can see
how recently data was refreshed, if any errors were encountered, and how long it
took to load the data.

14
Shipment Analysis has been enhanced around events, times,
dimensional weights, and reference numbers.

15
You can now perform invoice analysis. This includes facts around
errors, delays, clients, branch offices, and basics such as charges and
dates.

16
Quote analysis has also be added and includes the OTM quote object,
related branch offices, geography, reference numbers, and matching
order releases.

17
Order analysis is also new and includes basic statistics on order
releases, geography, dates, reference numbers, items, and changes
made.

18
Carrier Analysis has been enhanced to include facts relating to tender
reply durations, dates, types of reply, and appointment performance.

19
Capacity analysis is also new in the latest OTM release and tracks
commitments made to carriers.

20
Bulk plan analysis has also been added and tracks the results of bulk
planning orders. You can analyze basic statistics, savings, failure rates,
creation of pool and cross dock shipments, and so on.
In short, a lot of new metadata has been added to enable you to create
metrics specific to your needs.

21
Next, let’s discuss the new industry dashboards added to OTM. The
new industry dashboards include:
• Two LSP dashboards
• A consumer goods and retail
• An environmentally-minded dashboard called a green dashboard

22
While the improvements in this feature will benefit all kinds of FTI users,
special focus has been given to LSP and consumer goods/retail users.
Part of this enhancement is to provide dashboards for these industries.
Additional KPIs can certainly be added to these new dashboards but a
framework is now in place. You can consider these dashboards as
placeholders. Also note that you can create additional dashboards. On
this slide, you can see individual dashboards for clients of an LSP or
consumer goods/retail.

23
To assign a dashboard to your OTM user preference, click
Configuration and Administration > Preferences > User Preferences.
You can see the User Preferences page at the top of the slide. Select a
Name of Dashboard Preference and then select the appropriate Value.
Values include:
• Carrier Scorecard Dashboard
• CPG Main Dashboard
• LSP Customer Dashboard
• LSP Host Dashboard
• Main Dashboard
If you select a Value of either LSP Customer Dashboard or LSP Host
Dashboard, you must also specify a Transportation Intelligence Role on
the Manage User page as shown at the bottom of the slide. To access
the Manage User page, click Configuration and Administration > User
Management > User Manager. In the Transportation Intelligence Role
field, select the appropriate role: LSP CUSTOMER or LSP HOST.
In this example, you’ve selected a Dashboard Preference of LSP
Customer Dashboard on the user preferences page. Then, you’ve
specified a Transportation Intelligence Role of LSP CUSTOMER.
Once this setup is complete, OTM displays the appropriate dashboard
when you click Transportation Intelligence > Dashboard.

24
FTI supports LSPs and their customers with two specific dashboards.
Each is a variation of the main dashboard used for shippers. The LSP
host can see more data than each LSP customer. The LSP host can
see:
• Aggregate data across the customer domains
• Data from a buy perspective, sell perspective, or a comparison of the two

25
Since the LSP host can view stop lights by domain and perspective,
you will also need to define targets by these new dimensions. In the KPI
Target Value Type page discussed previously, you can set your targets
by Domain Name or by Perspective. Note, the Service Provider ID is
blank.

26
Each LSP customer is defined by the domain it is in and can only see
data in that domain on the dashboard. For an LSP customer, the
perspective is always sell.

27
Also, the main dashboard has been enhanced. There is now a tab on
the main dashboard with environmentally-minded metrics based on the
US Government SmartWay program. This program helps measure
emissions of carbon-dioxide, nitrous-oxides, and particulate matter from
truckload fleets. You can, of course, modify the factors used in our
shipped formulas to suit the composition of your truck fleet.
In addition to these metrics, FTI also collects metrics around utilization
and total weight and volume on this new tab.

28
Since the emission and fuel consumption KPIs only relate to truckload
shipments via the SmartWay program, you will want to make your
target mode-specific. You can do this through the KPI Target Value Type
page. To access this page, click Transportation Intelligence > Power
Data > Transportation Intelligence > KPI Target Value Type.
The way to do this is to select a Target Value Type ID of USER
ENTERED on the KPI Target Value Type page. On the KPI Target Value
Stage page, select a Transport Mode ID of TL.

Note that less emissions is better so OTM displays a green stop light on
the Green Dashboard when the actual value is less than the target
value.

29
The KPIs related to emissions and fuel consumption are based on
mileage multiplied by a factor supplied via the SmartWay program. You
can enter the factors that the SmartWay program gives your
organization as parameters.
To access the Parameter Set page, click Shipment Management >
Power Data > General > Parameter Set.

30
Next, let’s discuss the integration of analytics and operations.

31
To make FTI more relevant in your operational work within OTM, there
are more ways to go from one to the other. Let’s look at:
• Actionable business intelligence
• OTM reference numbers in FTI

32
Embedded business intelligence (BI) is a buzzword for making metrics
more relevant in your operational environment, in this case OTM. Over
the next few slides, we’ll show you some examples.
This slide displays the following process: Before you manually change a
service provider for a shipment in OTM, you can now access the carrier
scorecard. For a shipment, select the Analyze Carrier Scorecard action
as shown on the left. OTM displays the Select Carriers page where you
can select the carriers you are considering. Once you click Analyze
Carrier Scorecard, OTM displays a page where you can compare the
different carriers performance.

33
Another example is shown on this slide: Before tendering to a carrier,
you can view your carrier’s tender performance and make sure they are
likely to accept quickly enough for your needs. For a shipment, select
the Analyze Tender Performance action as shown on the left. OTM
displays the Select Carriers page where you can select the carriers you
are considering. Once you click Analyze Tender Performance, OTM
displays a page where you can compare the different carriers tender
acceptance.

34
In addition to the OTM generated ID, you can also include reference
numbers for each object. This allows you to recognize each transaction
with a piece of data that is more familiar. In this example, you can see
the shipment reference number for each shipment.

35
FTI allows you to bring over five reference numbers for each object. By
default, only one reference number is brought over for the qualifier of
GLOG. To define the reference numbers that should be brought over
from the operational to the historical database, click Shipment
Management > Power Data > General > Parameter Set. In your
Parameter Set, as shown on this slide, you can control the reference
number qualifiers that should be brought over.
If a particular object happens to have multiple reference number values
for a qualifier, the ETL picks the reference number value that was
added last.

36
Let’s take a look at the FTI usability enhancements.

37
In OTM 6.1, the FTI functionality is easier to use and manage. For
example:
• It is easier to define KPI targets in OTM
• You can push data and targets when you want
• The look-and-feel of the new dashboards is harmonized according to findings in
end-user research by the Oracle user experience team

38
If you want to define targets for your metrics, this is easier in OTM 6.1.
Power Data items that brought no value have been removed and the
values that can be used are pre-populated. On this slide, you can see
the KPI Target Value Type page discussed previously. On this page,
you determine:
• The KPI for which you want to define your target
• The target type: FORECAST, INDUSTRY BENCHMARK or TARGET
• And finally, the type of target value: FIXED, MOVING AVERAGE, or USER
ENTERED. Depending on the target value entered, you can add additional
information. All target values assume the base unit of measure (UOM) stored in
the OTM database. For example, when the Target Value Type is MOVING
AVERAGE, the Duration is specified in weeks. The Target Value Type of USER
ENTERED is discussed on the next slide.

39
For a Target Value Type of USER ENTERED, you can define the time
period, mode, and geography for your target as shown at the top of the
slide. When you click Next, you can then enter the values for those
combinations as shown at the bottom of the slide.

40
Also, once you have defined new targets, or for other reasons, you may
want to immediately push OTM data over to FTI. You can do this
through Process Management. You must be logged in to OTM as DBA
to access Process Management for transportation intelligence. Click
Transportation Intelligence > Process Management. You can then push
data, including newly defined targets, to the historical database or to the
replicated online database using the Load Data to HD and Load Data to
ROD processes respectively.

41
Finally, based on user experience tests, the main dashboard has been
updated:
• The main dashboard has been given a harmonized look. The streamlined look
makes it easier to compare metrics and focus on trouble spots.
• The dashboard shows weekly data for the last six weeks to match a weekly MRP
view.
• The dashboard displays a status symbol for the current week. The current week
column displays a status for the most recent completed week. A quick glance
shows areas which need attention.

42
As in previous versions, there is a specific dashboard designed for
service providers. To use this dashboard:
• Associate a user in the SERVPROV domain with the TI Role of SERVPROV
• Then, select the Service Provider Dashboard in your user preferences.
Let’s look at the service provider updates in greater detail.

43
In OTM 6,1, FTI now allows you, as a shipper, to define different targets
for different service providers. For example, you can have different
average weight targets for different carriers or you might even have top
and bottom end-tiers of carriers with different quality metrics.

44
To define a target specific to one carrier, you select its corresponding
Service Provider ID on the KPI Target Value Type page discussed
previously. To define a traditional target applicable to all carriers, you
can leave the Service Provider ID blank.

Note that the main dashboard for shippers and LSP hosts only uses
targets for all carriers. For these dashboards, make sure you leave the
Service Provider ID blank.

45
Let’s shift perspective and imagine that you are a service provider
servicing a shipper who feeds you shipments from multiple OTM
domains. You can now view data by each of those domains. For
example, the shipper can be a 3PL with different customers in different
domains. As a carrier, you can then view your performance against
each of the 3PL’s customers.
