Project Proposal:
Additional Renewable Energy in Iwahig, Palawan
By Mark Dasigan

The project aims to solve the frequent power interruption happening in Palawan, it was said in
some articles that were published in 2019 by Philippine Electricity Interruptions that MIMAROPA
region consists of Mindoro, Masbate, Romblon and Palawan could experience frequent power
interruption compare to other Regions.
In order to solve this problem, this proposal aims to build a Renewable Energy in the location of
Iwahig, Palawan, as we all know, Palawan gross income came from many tourists who visit the
beaches and well-known location in Palawan and because of the many of the establishment are
arising yet the power source is limited.
Based on the Nrel.gov, a site which survey in which places here in the Philippines are suitable
for wind energy and based on the data, Palawan is suitable in building a Windpower plant that
could harvest an estimated of 3000 to 5000 MW of electric power that could lessen the power
interruption that the consumer experience nowadays.
The proposed project will be connected to into an existing power plant which is located in Rizal
Palawan that produces 0.516 MW. This is to ensure that in the coming years will never be
experience scarcity in power generation.

Project Proposal:
Solar Energy in San Lorenzo, Guimaras
By: Jonel Palmas
The project aims to solve the frequent power interruption happening in Calayan Island it
was said in some articles The island of Calayan is locared 39 kilometers from the
Babuyan Island directed west-south-west off the coast in the Philippines. Grid
connectivity is nearly impossible since the island is far away from the mainland based
on geographic location. The electricity demand in the area is fulfilled by stand-alone
diesel generators but for limited hours only. Fortunately, a reliable and continuous
supply of electricity is possible because the island is rich with renewable energy sources
such as hydro, wind and solar. In this study, an attempt has been made to model a
hybrid renewable power system to supply the electricity demand of the island in a
reliable and sustainable manner. This hybrid system incorporates a combination of solar
PV, wind turbines, diesel generators, micro-hydro plant and batteries. HOMER software
is used to analyze and find out the best possible configuration based on the available
renewable sources in the area. A 50 kW solar PV, 50×10 kW wind turbines, 1×180 kW
and 1×120 kW diesel generators, 450×2 kWh batteries, 250 kW hydroelectric plant and
a 150 kW converter hybrid system are found to be the best among all other
configurations in terms of net present cost (NPC) and cost of energy (COE). This
configuration gives the lowest COE at P11.89/kWh and NPC of P236M with a
renewable fraction of 88%.

Project Proposal:
Rhiver Solar Power Plant
By Rivera, Harold M.

This Project aims the utilization of Solar Power Plant along the side of the widen road of
NLEX South Bound Road. The plan of this project for creating a Solar Power Plant on
the rice field that is in between Brgy. Malino, and Brgy. Capaya to be used as an
additional electricity power supply.

The Rhiver Solar Power Plant will make use of the substations provided by the National
Grid Corporation of the Philippines, or also known as NGCP. The NGCP is a privately
owned corporation in charge of transmission, maintenance, operating, and developing
of the country’s state-owned power grid.

This project kicks-off projects are the 10-MW Rhiver-1 Solar Power Plant – the first in
Central Luzon and the 13-MW Rhiver-2 Solar Power Plant in Mexico, Pampanga. Both
plants are running under the Feed-in Tariff scheme of the Philippines.
