Classroom Procedures:

Beginning of class -
 Attendance check
 Brief students who have been absent
 Behavior expected during bell work
 Students must enter the room and be in their assigned seat by the time the bell rings
 Absentee slips must be handed to the teacher before class begins
 Seating arrangements – Assigned by the teacher
 How to get student’s attention – the tardy bell
 During announcements students will be quiet

Managing classroom movement


 Students will leave their seats to sharpen their pencils only
 In order to leave the room, students must ask for the teacher’s permission and receive a
pass
 For students to get help from the teacher, they will consult with their team first, then
they will raise their hand to ask the teacher
 Students will use inside voices for discussion, group work, and seatwork unless
otherwise indicated
 When working and preparing to be in groups, the teacher will give students 2 minutes to
transition into their places
 To be chosen to speak, the students must raise their hand and they will occasionally be
called on by the teacher to ensure everyone participates
 To receive supplies that the students are missing, there will be a box of papers in the
back of the classroom for any missed assignments, but if it is an essential materials such
as a writing utensil, students will be checking out a material
 Students sharpen pencils during bell work or as needed, as long as it is not disruptive
during the lesson
 Students will get materials or special equipment from the teacher. One person will be
assigned to collect and return materials from each group.

Paper work
 Students will turn in homework assignments in tray in the back of the room. Class
assignments will be collected during class and will be collected by being passed to the
front
 Makeup work will be given directly to the teacher so as to ensure that their assignments
are graded properly and are not taken off points for tardiness
 To distribute handouts, they will be given to one person in a row and passed down
 Late work will receive points deducted for tardiness
 Makeup quizzes and tests must be done the same day they return to the school, before
or after school
 Late projects will receive a lowered letter grade
End of class –
 Put away room equipment or materials
 Remind students of upcoming activities or anything to bring the next day
 Open to questions about the lesson for the day

Course outline
 Students will be given syllabus with detailed information on assignments, expectations,
course requirements as well as a grading scale
