India’s First Solar-Powered Miniature Train Launched at Veli Tourist Village, Kerala by CM Pinarayi

On November 2, 2020, India’s first solar energy-driven miniature train was virtually inaugurated at the Veli Tourist
Village in Kerala by state’s Chief Minister (CM) Pinarayi Vijayan. Developed with an outlay of Rs 10 crore, this train is
a part of Rs 60 crore projects undertaken to make facilities of the Veli tourist village at par with international
standards.
• Modelled after the vintage steam locomotive, it covers a distance of 2.5 km with three-bogie train and can
carry 45 passengers.
• Apart from this, he also dedicated Rs 5 crore Urban Park and Rs 2.5 crore swimming pool at the Veli tourist
village which is located on the outskirts of the capital Thiruvananthapuram where the Veli lake meets the
Arabian sea.
Key Points:
–It features a fully- equipped rail system, including a tunnel, traditional style station and a ticket office.
–The surplus energy generated by the rail system will be routed to the Kerala State Electricity Board Limited (KSEBL)
grid.
–A tourist facilitation centre, convention centre, and art cafe will also be opened at the tourist village soon.
–Notably, the state government had allotted around Rs 120 crore for tourism sector in one year alone.

i.In 2019, the Central government approved the setting up four medical device parks in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana,
Tamil Nadu and Kerala to provide world-class products at affordable prices for treatment. In this regard, on
September 24, 2020, Pinarayi Vijayan laid the foundation stone for one of the first medical devices parks in the
country, “MedSpark” at Life Science Park, Thonnakkal, Thiruvananthapuram.
ii.In accordance with the report on “Household Social Consumption: Education in India as part of 75th round of
National Sample Survey(NSS) – from July 2017 to June 2018′′ conducted by National Statistical Office (NSO), Ministry
of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI), Kerala again emerged as the most literate state in the country
with 96.2% literacy followed by Delhi (88.7%), Uttarakhand ( 87.6%), Himachal Pradesh (86.6%) and Assam
(85.9%).

IREDA signs MoU with MNRE; sets Revenue target of INR 2406 Crores in the FY 2020-21
On November 2, 2020, Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency Limited (IREDA) signed a Memorandum of
Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), Government of India setting key

targets for the year 2020-21. IREDA has set a Revenue Target of INR 2406 Crores for the current Financial Year
2020-21.
The MoU was signed by MNRE Secretary, Indu Shekhar Chaturvedi and IREDA CMD, Pradip Kumar Das.
Key Points:
i.The revenue target of INR 2, 406 Crores has been set under ‘Excellent’ rating along with other performance-
related parameters such as Operating Profit as percentage of Revenue from Operation, PAT (profit after tax) as a
percentage of Average Net worth, Loan disbursement, Overdue loan for the year 2020-21.
ii.IREDA has financed more than 2700 Renewable Energy projects in India with cumulative loan disbursements to
the tune of INR 57, 000 crore rupees.
iii.It has supported green power addition Capacity of 17, 259 Megawatt (MW) across India.
Fact:
Equity Share – 100 % (Amounting to INR 784.60 Crore) is held by Government of India in IREDA (as per IREDA’s
Annual Report of 2019-20).
i.The Union Ministry of New and Renewable energy (MNRE) proposed the ‘One Sun One World One Grid’ (OSOWOG)
to interconnect renewable energy by sharing solar resources with more than 140 countries of West Asia and
SouthEast Asia. The grid will be interconnected with African power pools.

Government Extends Emergency Credit Line Guarantee Scheme by One Month to November 30, 2020
On November 2, 2020, Government of India extended Emergency Credit Line Guarantee Scheme (ECLGS) by one
month (i.e.) 30th of November or till an amount of INR Three Lakh Crore (Target Credit of ECLGS) is sanctioned
under the scheme, whichever is earlier. The previous Deadline was October 31, 2020.

The extension will provide an opportunity for borrowers who have not availed the scheme so far, to obtain credit
under the scheme.
It has been extended for opening up various sectors in the economy and for expected increase in demand during the
festive season.
Key Points:
i.ECLGS was announced as part of the Atma Nirbhar Bharat Package (ANBP) to provide fully guaranteed and
collateral free additional credit to MSMEs, business enterprises, individual loans for business purposes
and MUDRA borrowers, it also includes Doctors, Chartered Accountants and self Employed individuals like vendors,
Taxi drivers.
ii.ECLGS provides guaranteed and collateral free additional credit to the extent of 20 percent of
their Credit outstanding as on 29.2.2020.
iii.The collateral free loan provided under this scheme will support small enterprises to pay salary, rent and
restocking expenses.
Meeting of Target:
According to Members Lending Institutions on ECLGS Portal, Loans of INR 2.03 Lakh Crore have been sanctioned
and an amount of INR 1.48 Lakh crore has been disbursed. The number of beneficiaries under the scheme are 60.67
lakh borrowers so far.
Note: –
Prime Minister Narendra Modi appointed a committee headed by Rajnath Singh to solve the difficulties faced in the
implementation of Rs.3 Lakh crore collateral-free loan for MSME.
Emergency Credit Line Guarantee Scheme (ECLGS):
i.In May, 2020, Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi approved ECLGS Scheme. The Government of
India through the Ministry of Finance, Department of Financial Services introduced ECLGS.
ii.It will provide them 100 percent guarantee for any losses suffered by them due to non-repayment of
GECL (Guaranteed Emergency Credit Line) funding by borrowers.
Objective of ECLGS:
The Main objective is providing incentive to Member Lending Institutions (MLIs) such as Banks, Financial Institutions
(FIs) and Non-Banking Financial Companies (NBFCs) to increase access, and enable availability of additional funding
facilities to MSME Borrowers facing economic distress due to pandemic.

Indian Naval Ship ‘Airavat’ reaches Port Sudan with Food Aid as Part of ‘Mission Sagar-II’
On November 2, 2020, Indian Naval Ship (INS) Airavat entered Port Sudan with 100 Tonnes of Food aid as part
of Mission Sagar-II. Under Mission ‘SAGAR’ Indian government is providing assistance to Friendly Foreign Countries
to overcome natural calamities and COVID-19 pandemic.
The mission is being done in close coordination with the Ministry of Defence and Ministry of External Affairs and
other agencies of Indian Government.
Mission Sagar-II:
i.Under Mission Sagar-II, INS Airavat will deliver food aid to Sudan, South Sudan, Djibouti and Eritrea amid
COVID-19 pandemic.
ii.Mission Sagar-II is in line with the Prime Minister’s vision of ‘SAGAR-Security and Growth for All in the Region’
Note: – Mission Sagar-I was undertaken in May-June 2020, INS Kesari provided Food and Medicines to Maldives,
Mauritius, Seychelles, Madagascar and Comoros.
INS Airavat:
i.INS Airavat is the third Shardul-class amphibious warfare vessel of Indian Navy.
ii.It was commissioned at the Eastern Naval Command in Visakhapatnam on 19th May 2009.
iii.It was built by Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers (GRSE) in Kolkata

30 Indian cities Will Face ‘Water Risk’ by 2050; Jaipur tops: WWF report
In accordance with the World Wide Fund (WWF) Water Risk Filter, an online tool, co-developed by the WWF for
Nature and Germany’s Deutsche Investitions- und Entwicklungsgesellschaft (KFW DEG), nearly a third of the 100
cities in the world susceptible to “water risk” are in India means 30 Indian cities are expected to suffer increased
water risks by 2050. The list of Indian cities was topped by Jaipur (Rajasthan) which is followed by Indore (Madhya
Pradesh) and Thane (Maharashtra).
• Among 100 cities, Jaipur ranked 45th and Indore featured at 75th.
• As per Risk Filter, an urgent action is required to mitigate this risk.
• On the global front, the cities such as Beijing, Jakarta, Johannesburg, Istanbul, Hong Kong, Mecca and Rio de
Janeiro are included in this filter. China accounts for almost half the cities.
• Globally, populations in areas of high-water risk could rise from 17% in 2020 to 51% by 2050.
WWF Water Risk Filter evaluates the severity of risk places faced by graphically illustrating various factors that can
contribute to water risk. The factor varies from droughts to floods.

Key Points:
–The analysis gave cities a risk score out of five in 2030 and 2050 where anything above 3 is a ‘high risk’ and anything
above 4 is a ‘very high risk’.
• Notably, all 30 Indian cities received a score of at least three or above for both 2030 and 2050,
and Ludhiana, Chandigarh, Amritsar and Ahmedabad topped the list with an overall score of 4.9, 4.8, 4.7
and 4.6, respectively.
–The 100 global cities that are expected to suffer the greatest rise in water risk by 2050 are home to at least 350
million people.
–Urban planning and wetland conservation need to be integrated to ensure zero loss of freshwater systems in the
urban areas.
• In this regard, there is a requirement of scaling up of initiatives where groups can come together and revive
wetlands such as Bashettihalli wetland in Bengaluru (Karnataka) and the Sirpur Lake in Indore.
–The scenarios of Water Risk Filter are aligned to the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosure (TCFD)
recommendations which can help companies, and cities, in making more effective corporate action on climate and
water resilience.


i.On September 1, 2020, a report “Enhancing Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) for Food Systems”
published by WWF, United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), non-profit organization EAT & think tank
Climate Focus based on strengthening food systems in the age of climate crisis.
ii.According to the WWF for Nature, one third of all food produced in the world goes to waste, which is equal to 1.3
billion tons of fruits, vegetables, meat, dairy, seafood and grains. This would be enough to feed every undernourished
person on the planet.

BRICS Business Forum held virtually from October 20-28, 2020

The BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China & Republic of South Africa) Business Forum was held virtually from October
20-28, 2020. The meeting is being held online for the first time due to Pandemic (originally planned to be held in
Moscow(Russia), and St. Petersburg (Russia)).
i.The BRICS Business Forum is the key annual event of the BRICS Business Council.
ii.The meeting was chaired by the Head of Russian Chapter of BRICS Business Council, President of Chamber of
Commerce and Industry of Russian Federation, Sergey Katyrin from Moscow.
iii.It was held jointly with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russian Federation, the Ministry of
Economic Development of Russian Federation and the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russian Federation.
Participants:
i.Heads of National parts of BRICS Business Council – Onkar Kanwar (India), Jackson Schneider (Brazil), Xu Lirong
(China), Busi Mabuza (South Africa) were present during the meeting.
ii.Onkar Kanwar is Chairman of BRICS Business Council, India.
iii.About 90 speakers, representatives of executive bodies, monetary institutions, industry and public organizations
from all international locations of the Affiliation took part in the Discussion board.
The discussions were held in the Forum under the following topics:
• The Main topic of the Forum of this year was “Business Partnership of BRICS: A Common Vision of
Sustainable Inclusive Development”.
• “COVID-19 and Economic Development of BRICS Countries: problems and actions”
• “Challenges and opportunities for sustainable development: pathways to a green economy”
Key Points:
i.The forum jointly reviewed joint work for previous years and discussed current business issues and path for the
future.

ii.During the session, Agenda for action on climate change and finding ways to sustain economic, industrial and
energy development were discussed.
iii.Discussions were also held to reduce carbon emissions.
iv.The program included 9 panel sessions discussing areas of cooperation under topics of industry, trade, digital
technologies, agriculture, healthcare, energy, ecology and women’s Entrepreneurship.
v.The forum discussed the impact of pandemic on industrial production, ways to restore economies of BRICS
countries, the possibility of digitization and automation in creating favorable climate.
vi.The forum considered the development of the Women’s Alliance within BRICS.
XII BRICS Summit:
i.The XII BRICS Summit will be held online on November 17, 2020.
ii.The topic of the meeting of leaders will be “BRICS Partnership in the Interests of Global Stability, Common Security
and Innovative Growth”.
BRICS Business Council:
i.It was first created in 2013 at BRICS Summit in Durban, South Africa to bring together the private sector from
Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa.
ii.It was established to Strengthen and promote economic, business and investment ties among business communities
of BRICS countries.
iii.It works on nine thematic working groups namely Agribusiness, Digital Economy, Skills Development,
Deregulation, Energy and Green Economy, Infrastructure, Manufacturing, Aviation and Financial Services.
i.On 4th September 2020, Russia, the current chair of BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) chaired the
stand alone meeting of BRICS Ministers of Foreign Affairs/ International Relations over a virtual platform through
video conferencing.

New building of Bhimsen Adarsha Higher Secondary School, Built with Indian Assistance of NRs
25.83 Million E-Inaugurated in Nepal
On November 2, 2020 The new building of Bhimsen Adarsha Higher Secondary School, Nawalpur District, Nepal
constructed with the Government of India’s financial assistance of NRs(Nepalese Rupees) 25.83 million, under
the Nepal-Bharat Maitri Development Cooperation has been virtually inaugurated. The project was implemented
by the District Coordination Committee(DCC), Nawalparasi, Nepal.
E-Inauguration
The new building was jointly inaugurated by the representatives of the Embassy of India, Kathmandu, District
Coordination Committee, School Management Committee and local representatives, including students and faculty
through video-conferencing.

Key Info
i.The new school building was implemented under the long standing High Impact Community Development
Projects(Formerly known as Small Development Projects).
ii.This is another example of strong cooperation between India and Nepal in the education sector.
iii.It complements the efforts of the Nepal Government to enhance the physical infrastructure for learning, especially
in public schools.
About the new school building:
i.The new building of Bhimsen Adarsha Higher Secondary School is located in Devchuli-07 of Nawalpur District,
Nepal.
ii.It was established in 1969 and offers classes till +2. More than 55% of the students of the school are girls.
iii.It has 3 floors and includes 16 classrooms, labs, administration & staff rooms, meeting hall, canteen, medical room
and sanitation facilities.
A new four-storey school building, developed with the Indian assistance of Rs 1.94 crore (Nepalese Rupees (NR)
31.13 million) under the Nepal-Bharat Maitri Development Cooperation programme has been inaugurated in Shri
Saptmai Gurukul Sanskrit Vidyalaya, located in Ilam district of Nepal to boost the learning environment for students.
The project was implemented by the District Coordination Committee (DCC), Ilam.

HDFC ERGO General Insurance Implemented AI Enabled Tool, IDEAS to Automate Motor Claim
Settlements
In order to automate the complex process of motor claims, on November 2, 2020, HDFC ERGO General Insurance
launched the AI (Artificial Intelligence) tool IDEAS (Intelligent Damage detection Estimation and Assessment
Solution) for motor claim settlements.
• The IDEAS module uses Neural Network image processing and Analytics, Machine Learning and Natural
Language that supports instant damage detection as well as calculation of the claims estimate for the
surveyors to help in motor claims settlement in real-time.
• It is trained using more than 3,00,000 images over the last 2 years and has been integrated in the surveyor
mobile app.

Points to be noted:
–e2e, HDFC ERGO’s Surveyor mobile application, was the first-of-its-kind mobile application launched for surveyors
in 2017 which enabled surveyors to process entire motor own damage claims through mobile phones on a complete
paperless basis.
–Now with the IDEAS module, the efficiency of surveyor’s will be improved thereby speeding the claims processing
for ultimate benefit of the end customers.
–The IDEAS module does the rest wherein the entire process is done under three main functions which will read
(vehicle number, make and model), detect (all vehicle parts, damaged parts, severity of damaged parts) and auto
assess/estimate the claim amount, based on the damage and severity detection using the AI assisted intelligent rate
masters. IDEAS module also minimises the risk of fraudulent claims.
i.As part of a social commitment to compensate the unprecedented expenses of ordinary people, Canara bank has
partnered with 3 insurers namely, New India Assurance Company Ltd, Bajaj Allianz General Insurance Co Ltd and
HDFC ERGO Health Insurance Co Ltd to offer individual short-term Corona Kavach policy to cover COVID- 19 related
health expenses.
ii.On September 25, 2020 HDFC Bank launched India’s first Warehouse Commodity Finance App. The app will help
customers to draw down and manage the loan against the pledge of commodities online without physical
intervention or multiple visits to a bank branch.

a three-year term of 2020-2023. He succeeds Gabriela Cuevas Barron, a Mexican Parliamentarian.
The Presidential Election was conducted over the virtual platform during the 206th Session of the Governing Council
of IPU, which was conducted as a virtual session.

Alassane Ouattara, President of Ivory Coast (Côte d’Ivoire) won the 3rd term as the President with his landslide
victory in the 2020 Ivory Coast Election securing 94.27% of the vote. The 2020 Ivory Coast Election held on 31st
October 2020 was boycotted by the two opposition figures – former President Henri Konan Bedie and ex-Prime
Minister Pascal Affi N’Guessan and their supporters.
About Alassane Ouattara:

i.Alassane Ouattara (78 years old) of Rally of Houphouëtists for Democracy and Peace (RHDP) party became the
President of Ivory Coast in 2011.
ii.He was serving his 2nd consecutive term as the President of the country.
iii.The constitution of Ivory Coast limits the president to two terms and the approval of a new constitution in 2016
allows Ouattara to restart his mandate.
The Results of 2020 Ivory Coast Election:
i.The total voter turnouts was around 53.90% and the opposition claimed that only 10% Ivorians took part in the
election.
ii.The main opposition candidates Henri Konan Bedie and Pascal Affi N’Guessan got 1% and 2% votes respectively
and Kouadio Konan Bertin the 4th candidate got 2% of the total turnout votes.
iii.The results of the election are yet to be validated by the Constitutional Council of the country which will declare
the winners after hearing the challenges or complaints of irregularities.

The opposition released the joint statement and announced the creation of a Transitional Council chaired by Henri
Konan Bedie.

CCI Approves Acquisition of Bharti AXA by ICICI Lombard
On November 2, 2020 The Competition Commission of India (CCI) under Section 31(1) of the Competition Act, 2002,
approved the acquisition of General Insurance Business of Bharti AXA General Insurance Company Limited (Bharti
AXA) by ICICI Lombard General Insurance Company Limited (ICICI Lombard).
About the proposed combination

As per the proposed combination, the whole general insurance business of Bharti AXA will be transferred to ICICI
Lombard by way of demerger, considering that ICICI Lombard will issue shares to Bharti AXA.
Key Info
i.The combined entity(proposed merged non-life insurance company) is likely to have a market share of 8.7% on a
pro forma basis.
ii.Under the proposed combination, the shareholders of Bharti AXA will receive 2 shares of ICICI Lombard for every
115 shares of Bharti AXA, held by them as on the date on which the scheme is approved by the Board of Directors of
ICICI Lombard and Bharti AXA.
Background
In August 2020, ICICI Lombard and Bharti AXA signed definitive agreements to merge their insurance business.

i.ICICI Lombard is registered with the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI).
ii.It is engaged to provide a comprehensive and well-diversified range of general insurance products, which includes

of Cricket at the age of 39. He had already announced retirement from International Cricket in 2015 but was
playing Franchise-based Cricket tournaments such as Indian Premier League (IPL), Pakistan Super League (PSL).

i.He is a right-handed batsman and a right-handed fast medium bowler.
ii.He made his debut for the Australian cricket team in 2002, playing his first One Day International against South

iii.Watson has played 59 Tests, 190 One Day Internationals (ODIs), and 58 Twenty20 Internationals (T20I), scoring
3731 runs and picked up 75 wickets in Tests, 5757 runs and 168 wickets in ODIs and 1462 runs & 48 wickets in
T20Is.
iv.He was part of the World cup winning Australian Team in both 2007 and 2015 World cups.
v.He has played for Sydney Sixers, Sydney Thunders & Brisbane Heat in Big Bash League (Australia’s Franchise based

Satish Prasad Singh, 6th & Shortest Served CM of Bihar Passed Away at 84
On November 2, 2020 Satish Prasad Singh, former Chief Minister(CM) and Socialist of Bihar passed away at the age
of 84 due to illness at AIIMS(All India Institute of Medical Sciences), Delhi. Satish Prasad Singh, the leader of Soshit
Samaj Dal became the 6th and the shortest- served CM of Bihar for 5 days(28 January to February 1, 1968) with the
support of Indian National Congress(INC). He was born on January 1, 1936 in Korchakka(now known as Satish Nagar)
Village, Khagaria district, Bihar.
• He served as the MLA(Member of the Legislative Assembly) in 1967 from Parbatta (Vidhan Sabha
constituency) Assembly on the Socialist Party ticket.
• He was elected as the Member of Parliament-MP to the 7th Lok Sabha on a Congress ticket from Khagaria
constituency of Bihar in 1980.

About Satish Prasad Singh:

i.Before becoming an MLA, he produced, directed and acted as a hero in the film, ‘Jogi Aur Jawani’.
ii.He joined BJP(Bharatiya Janata Party), but in 2013 he quit the party.
iii.His daughter, Suchitra Sinha, was a minister in the Nitish Kumar-led cabinet and his son-in-law, Nagmani, was a
Union Minister of State in the Vajpayee-led government.
Violin Maestro, Padma Awardee T N Krishnan Passed Away at 92

On 2nd November 2020, the Veteran Violinist and Padama Shri & Padma Bhushan Awardee Tripunithura
Narayanaiyer Krishnan (T N Krishnan) passed away at the age of 92 at Chennai, Tamil Nadu. He was born in 1928 in
Kerala.
About TN Krishnan:
i.T N Krishnan was a child prodigy who made his first solo violin concert in Thiruvananthapuram in 1939.
ii.He was mentored by Alleppy K. Parthasarathy and had accompanied numerous musicians like Ariyakudi Ramanuja
Iyengar, Musiri Subramania Iyer, Alathur Brothers, Madurai Mani Iyer, Chembai Vaidyanatha Bhagavatar among
others.
iii.He shifted his base to Chennai in 1942 where he was tutored by Semmangudi Srinivasa Iyer.
iv.His performances enhance the pristine beauty of Karnatic Ragas.
v.He has taught to students of Chennai Music College and he also served as the dean of School of Music and Fine Arts
at the University of Delhi.
Awards & Titles:
i.He received the Padma Shri in 1973 and Padma Bhusan in 1992, India’s highest civilian awards, for arts.
ii.He received the Sangeetha Kalanidhi title, the highest recognition in the field of Carnatic Music in 1980.

Maharashtra Govt Signed ~Rs 35,000 crore MoUs with 15 companies during ‘Magnetic Maharashtra
2.0’ in Mumbai
On November 2, 2020, the state government of Maharashtra has inked Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs)
worth around Rs 35,000 crore with 15 companies viz. 10 Indian and 5 global companies at the ‘Magnetic Maharashtra
2.0’ investor meet in Mumbai, Maharashtra in order to develop state as data and logistics hub in western India. The
event was attended by the state’s Chief Minister (CM) Uddhav Bal Thackeray. These MoUs are in addition to the 12
companies which signed the deals on June 15, 2020. Click Here to Read
• The MoUs were signed with the state-run Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) in the
presence of Industries Minister Subhash Desai and Minister of State (MoS) for Industries Aditi Tatkare.
• These include seven agreements for setting up data centres, five for logistics and one each in the gas & fuel,
chemicals, and electronics sectors.
• The MoUs will also help in encouraging economic activities that are affected due to COVID-19 pandemic.
Key Points:
–The recent MoUs are expected to create 23,182 jobs.
–15 companies signed MoU’s.They are Net Magic IT Services is planning another data centre with Rs 10,555 crore
investment. Adani Enterprises is also planning a data centre with Rs 5,000 crore investment. The UK-based Colt
company through Data Center Holdings India LLP would also be setting up a data centre with Rs 4,400 crore
investment, Spain-based Mantra Data Centre is looking at setting up of the facility with Rs 1,125 crore investment,
STT Global Data Centres India Pvt Ltd is investing Rs 825 crore, while Singapore-based Princeton Digital Group will
invest Rs 1,500 crore and Nxtra India Rs 2,500 crore in the data centre facility. In the electronics space, Mitsubishi
Electric India of Japan will invest Rs 490 crore, Bright Sino Holdings Pvt Ltd will invest Rs 1800 crore in the oil and
gas sector.
–It was also announced that the state is planning to bring in over Rs 1 lakh crore investments in the coming few
months.
–It should be noted that Magnetic Maharashtra was launched by the previous government, led by Devendra
Gangadharrao Fadnavis, in 2018 with an aim to bring in investments worth Rs 10 lakh crore.
i.On September 2, 2020, Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI) has inked MoU with Government of
Maharashtra to develop the micro, small and medium enterprise (MSME) ecosystem in the state.
ii.In a bid to tackle the coronavirus pandemic among further relaxation of lockdown curbs, Uddhav Thackeray
announced the launch of ‘My Family, My Responsibility’ Campaign. The campaign aims to motivate the maximum
number of people to adopt a new lifestyle for effective COVID-19 control.

activities thereby helping in maximizing the production and income of farmers.
• This project is an edition to the government’s efforts to double farmers’ income through technology in
agriculture, agribusiness and food processing.

–In the recent years, the Assam’s annual production of food grain, fruits, vegetable etc. has significantly increased
with export to Dubai, London, Bangkok, Abu Dhabi and several others international destinations.
–Assam already has ongoing collaborations with Israel in furthering the growth of start-up ecosystem in the state
through start-up exchange programme and Israeli mentorship of various start-up projects in Assam.
i.On 4th September 2020, The Government of Assam relaunched its old scheme Swami Vivekananda Assam Youth
Empowerment (SVAYEM) worth Rs.1000 crore. The scheme is aimed to provide self-employment opportunities to
more than 2 lakh youths of the state.
ii.On 25th September 2020, Government of Assam launched a mobile app named “Visitassam” for air passengers from
other states. Visitassam enables the air passengers to download forms and fill it which can be used at the airports to
reduce the time spent on the formalities for COVID-19 tests and ensures the proper social distancing among the
passengers.
