Why Energy Conservation?

 Because of the depletion of fossil fuels and increased greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.
 Due to continuous economic growth, energy needs increase with time.

Energy Mapping

Before implementing specific energy conservation measures, the first step is to understand the current
status of the airport in terms of energy consumption. Energy Audit is one of the keys to a systematic
approach for decision-making in the area of energy management. By doing this, an Energy Map can be
established that will pinpoint areas where energy management is critical and will enable the company to
develop a structured approach to improve the energy management processes.

The energy audit process will include the following:

 Energy measurement, monitoring and reporting at all the sub metering levels of the terminal
facilities at MCIA.

 Total energy consumption monitored and reviewed frequently.

Natural Lighting in the Terminal

 Let natural light enter the terminal during the day. This will significantly reduce the energy
consumption.

The expansion of airport terminal included the addition of facilities such as Heating Ventilation and Air
Conditioning (HVAC).
