Introduction
It is telling time! In this lesson, we will be exploring on the concept of time. After completing
the task, the children will be able to tell time to the hour and half hour.

Children, help me rescue my pet dog Britanny. She was kidnapped by a bad kid named Leo.
It was already half an hour when he took Britanny and it is already 12:30. He wants me to
bring him a chocolate cake an hour before 2 o’clock. Can you help me?, what time should I
bring him the chocolate cake? Now let’s learn how to tell time in order for us to save my
Britanny. Are you ready?

Why do you think it is important to tell time correctly? Learning to tell time is very important
skill. We will not be late or too early for an appointment. We can follow our schedules
without missing anything. And always remember children “time is gold”, value our time and
make the most out of it.

The Task
1. Recite a rhyme entitled “Hickory Dickory Dock”
2. Watch a video about telling time.
3. Get a paper clock/real clock.
4. Bring cardboard, Popsicle sticks, markers for clock making.

The Process

1. You will be assigned to a team of five pupils. Introduce yourselves to each other and
together decide on the role each of you should take. Everyone must cooperate and
do your tasks.
2. After making the clock, you will be given 5 different times to put on your paper clock.
3. Then you will present to the class the clock you have made with proper time
indicated in each clock.
4. You will be given 10 minutes to finish the activity.

Evaluation

Describe to the learners how their performance will be evaluated. Prepare a rubric for
evaluating the group output. You can use/fill in the rubric table below.

Conclusion
You’re so smart! You just showed mastery in our lesson today. Just keep in mind when
telling time in hour the minute hand has to be pointing at the 12 to represent an hour.
While to tell half an hour the minute hand has to be pointing at 6 to represent half an hour..

Now we can answer what time should I bring the cake to Leo?
Note: It was already half an hour when he took Britanny and that was 12:30 when I knew it.
He wanted me to bring him the cake an hour before 2 o’clock.
1. Half an hour before 12:30 is 12:00;
2. So therefore an hour hour before 2 o’clock is 1 o’clock.
Good job kids! We can save now Britanny! Thank you children for the help.
