Here are three main methods of determining performance. The first is the trait method, in which
managers look at an employee’s specific traits in relation to the job, such as friendliness to the
customer. The behavioural method looks at individual actions within a specific job.
Comparative methods compare one employee with other employees. Results methods are
focused on employee accomplishments, such as whether or not employees met a quota.
For faculty members, its teaching ability. During performance appraisal evaluation process an
university need to follow those criteria to determine the proper performance appraisal for a
faculty member. To identify performance appraisal criteria, we have to know job characteristic
and how the work is done. Also supervise behaviour, Skills for teaching, experience and
creativity, Research productivity, passion for teaching
For faculty members, Teaching and Students Supervision is the most important criteria for
performance appraisal of faculty member. Because main objective of the faculty member job
is to teaching and supervising their students. This is one of the most important criteria in
performance appraisal evaluation process.
Focus on whether students are learning what is being taught and view the learning process as
a joint venture between themselves and their students. Give students adequate opportunity to
build confidence by practicing skills. Have the ability to recognize those students who are not
achieving to their fullest potential and then employ the professional knowledge and skill
necessary to assist them in overcoming academic difficulties.
Preoccupation for research and scientific productivity. Discovery of new information and
integration of knowledge, as well as involvement in scientific research. For evaluation, both
quantitative and qualitative criteria will be taken into consideration.
