High School Lesson Plan Reflection

This is a lesson plan that is focused on triplets for a high school band. In this lesson, I

made a point to incorporate elements of the Orff-Schulwerk concepts to maximize student

achievement. In order to build their knowledge of counting and performing half and quarter note

triplets, students make use of prior knowledge of rhythms, pulse, and counting. This is an

important element in the curriculum for high school students because it is a rhythm that they will

continue to see in their musical careers. Without the help of a teacher, it is easy to practice this

skill incorrectly. This lesson plan provides a way for music educators to effectively work through

this content with their classes.
