1. adjournment: an act or procedure to end a meeting through a motion.


Example: “She sought an adjournment of the trial.”

2. minutes: instant written record of a meeting or hearing.


Example: “My friend is in charge of taking minutes for today’s meeting.”

3. gist: the substance or essence of a speech or text.


Example: “She noted the gist of every message.”

4. presiding: to be in a position of authority in a meeting.


Example: “While my friend takes today’s minutes, I’ll be presiding.”

5. bias: prejudice in favor of or against one thing, person, or group compared with
another, usually in a way considered to be unfair.
Example: “There was evidence of bias against foreign applicants.”

6. denotation: the literal or primary meaning of a word, in contrast to the feelings


or ideas that the word suggests.
Example: “Beyond their immediate denotation, the words have a connotative
power.”

7. connotation: the idea or feeling that a word invokes in addition to its literal or
primary meaning.
Example: "The word “discipline” has unhappy connotations of punishment
and repression."

8. evidence: the available body of facts or information indicating whether a belief


or proposition is true or valid.
Example: “The certificate is not official since it is not signed. NO
EVIDENCE.”

9. signature: a person's name written in a distinctive way as a form of


identification in authorizing a check or document or concluding a letter.
Example: “My certificate has two signatures on behalf the president and
secretary.”

10. injustice: violation of the rights of others; unjust or unfair action or treatment.
an unjust or unfair act; wrong.
Example: “this world is full of people with reasoning derived from the
injustice.”

11. certificate: an official document attesting a certain fact.


Example: “My certificate had its signatures.”

12. upcycle: reuse discarded objects or material in such a way as to create a


product of higher quality or value than the original.
Example: "the opportunity to upcycle trash, or turn it into new products, was
vast"

13. deadline: the latest time or date by which something should be completed.
Example: "The deadline for submissions is February 5th"

14. GMO: The use of genetic engineering, or genetically modified organisms.


Example: “In the documentary film The Future of Food it talks about
genetically modified organisms (GMO).”

15. log: official written account of what happens each day.


Example: “I had to keep a log of everything a buy for five consecutive
days.”
