The Russian proverb: “Translation is like a woman: if she is faithful, she is not beautiful; if she is
beautiful, she is not faithful. ", this is true! Because a translation, depending on its purpose, must be read by
a person as if it were written from scratch. Anything can show the reader that it is a translation, this being an
obvious sign that the translator has failed to render the correct meaning of the text. It is very difficult to
complete the task of translating a text that retains its exact shape and at the same time flows naturally.
The translator must simply translate word with a word, which was written by the original author, but he
loses all the significance and charm of the text. Or to become the author of skills in recreating the text in the
mother tongue. From this we can deduce that a good translator is creative and has a good penetration, so that
he can render a natural translation.
So we can easily compare a translation with a woman. If she is faithful, she has neither beauty nor charm.
And if a woman is both beautiful and attractive, she is not faithful. You cannot have a woman who is
beautiful and faithful. As if you could not write an original translation and, at the same time, with meaning
and charm.
