Abstract

The use of chemical fertilizer in farming comes with both advantages and disadvantages,

making it hard for the farmers to decide which fertilizer to use. Given by the fact that organic

farming sometimes can’t derived the macronutrients to fertilize a plant thus they choose

chemical fertilizer. However, the use of chemical fertilizer can cause varieties of environmental

and soil problem. In addition, due to the lack of sense of responsibility and concern for the

environment of the people, the problem of in regards with improper waste management is

continually increasing, thus this study intends to reduce such problem in our society. Thus, the

study entitled as “NPK Analysis of prepared vermicast using different substrate from

Eudrilus euginae (African Night Crawler)” determined which substrate that undergoes

vermicomposting can equal with the NPK content that a chemical fertilizer can give. The

following substrate that is use are coco fiber brick and paper product such as paper towel,

newspaper, and cardboard, hence it can also help in waste management.

As the study was being tested with the usage of the Soil Testing Kit (STK), based on the

difference of the color intensity in the soil analysis, the vermicasts of African Night Crawler

from the substrates used in the study has higher content of Nitrogen, Phosphorus, and Potassium

than the Positive control treatment. Since it has a high NPK Content, it can also be an organic

fertilizer that will create a more productive crops on organic farming.
