ISEG FS1 First Semester Final Exam

Please read the following scenario and be prepared to discuss it for 15 minutes. You
have 15 minutes to prepare your material. You may use notes; but you will be
evaluated on how well you can speak extemporaneously on the given subject.

Scenario #1 LOW COST AIRLINE

You are launching a new low cost airline. You need to hire top management. You will need a CEO, a
CFO and a CMO.

Prepare notes for a meeting with a headhunter who will help you recruit your team. Be prepared to
describe your business plan. Be specific about the skills and qualifications you are looking for in each
candidate. Also, be prepared to explain the benefits that you will offer new employees. (10 mins)
Next you go to a group of investors to ask for financing. Be prepared to convince them to invest in
your company. (5 mins)

SCENARIO #2 CALL CENTER

You are opening a new call center in Kerala, you will need to hire a country manager, a construction
company to build the new facility and 12 call center operators. Before the government gives you a
permit to start your business you are required to explain your business plan to the Kerala Chamber of
Commerce and describe to them exactly what kinds of resources you need in terms of people and
materials. Be prepared to present specific information about the qualifications of the staff that you
need as well as the precise requirements for the offices that you want to build. (15 mins)

SCENARIO #3 AMERICAN THEATER COMPANY

You are opening an American Theater Company in Strasbourg. You need to find financing sources
for your project. And you need to assemble a Board of Directors.

Who will you contact to ask for funding? How will you pitch the project to this person/organization?

Who should be on your Board of Directors? What skills and qualifications will each of those people
need for the theater to be successful?

SCENARIO # 4 ISEG GOES VIRTUAL

You are in charge of building ISEGs virtual campus. You need to present an initial business plan to
IONIS at a meeting. Prepare notes for this meeting and be ready to identify:
 The teachers you will need; the qualifications should they have, and the benefits you are
prepared to offer them
 The leadership team you will need (Director, Chief Technical Officer, webmaster, etc) and
their qualifications.
 Other services that the virtual school offers it’s students that the existing school does not.
 How you will market the virtual campus to students world-wide.
