Liberation war of 1971 Narayanganj District

Narayanganj district was under Sector 2. The sector was located at Melaghar about 20 miles
south of Agartala. The sector commander was Major Khaled Mosharraf. About thirty five
thousand guerilla fighters fought in this sector.
On 28 March the Pak army launched a surprise attack and killed 54 persons at the
playground of Sirajuddowla Club under Bandar. During the war of liberation the freedom
fighters raided the Razakar camp at Baburail Bridge and killed 17 razakars. On 29 November
the Pak army shot 139 persons dead at a place on the bank of the sitoloxma murapara area
under Araihajar upazila. Besides, the Pak army conducted mass killing at village of
Sonargaon upazila. Dhaka-Chittagong highway was located in Sector 2, which made easier to
transport. On 4th december in adamjee attaking boat and killed around 47 pak’army.
Finally, we can say that Narayanganj district has made a very important contribution during
liberation war of Bangladesh.
