Tektonic bit with ION 3D cutters doubles

meterage in Bolivia’s Devonian!

• Unusual ≥ 20 kpsi UCS found drilling in the Devonian formation started to wear out bits that
were fitted with conventional round cutters, resulting in shorter runs.
• For the first time with our client YPFB Chaco S.A. an 8 ½” TKC63 Tektonic™ bit with ION™ 3D
shaped cutters was used and outstanding achievements were made.
• Meterage increased by 200% and higher DOC up to 15% reached with ION 3D shaped 13 mm
cutters compared with 16 mm conventional cutter,
• 49% of unusually hard and abrasive section was drilled with the TKC63 bit.
• Better use of energy demonstrated in tough conditions.
