The origin of management can be traced way back to the days

where people had to interact and start working together so as to control and
work efficiently in the best manners but rather the development and increase
in the interest and theorizing on the management and the increase in its
significance during the period of industrial revolution in the west Europe in
the 18th and 19th centuries ,the origin and development can be explained
further through major approaches to management theories as follows

Pre -classical approach this approach can also be referred as the

pre-scientific this approach prevailed through the Greek and the roman
empires the feudal system of the medieval period, the renaissance and until
the early 18th century during this period the major contributions were made
by
the churches, military organizations and some writers such as Robert Owens,
Charles Babbage, Henry Varnun Poor, Henry Robinson Towne, James watt
and Matthew Bolton and many more.

The classical or empirical approach by 1890 the existing

approaches did not work as well as previous so there was a need to introduce
more applicable management efforts this was due to the industrial revolution
this came with corporations with large scale productions for surplus with
large
national markets hence the management of the workers needed to be
transformed hence the introduction of various approaches such as scientific
management, administrative management and the bureaucratic management.
The neo-classical approach this approach is also referred as to
the human relation and behavioral approach this approach was introduced by
George Elton mayo who conducted experiment to determine the effects of
physical efforts to humans and its effects on doing the experiments and
conducting analysis of the patterns such as the informal groupings ,informal
patterns in leadership and communication patterns of the industry Elton mayo
came to the mere sense of the importance of the human and social factors of
the industry.

Modern management theories(approaches) these include the

latest approaches used to the present the approaches are as seen I the current
management systems and the current industries to ensure the best working
conditions for the workers for maximum production these approaches may
include management science or quantitative approach, system approach,
contingency or situational approach, total quality management.

Further more ,not a single person can give the exact time and
date of the origin of the management since even the beginning of time there
could be presence of management but the management was noticed and
documented from the 18th century to the present and since then it had
developed and grown greatly.
