1. Range of Application
“The pacing testis designated for judgment of fusions on PE
liners under shorter peeling stress. The qualty ofa seam can
‘only be sutticienty judged in combination with other tests (e.g,
‘dynamic mechanical analysis).
Sheets are made of thermoplastics or elastomer and fused by
welding, vulcanization or gluing. Overlap joints and overlap
seams with coated seams are applied
‘The sheets can be bultup homogenous or as multilayer.
“The fusion procedures are treated in DVS 2225-1, the on-site test
in DVS 2225-2
“The requicoments are settled in part 1 ofthis guideline
2. Shape and Number of Samples
Stip shaped Samples are applied forthe peeling tst according
{a Fig. 1. They are taken out vertically to the fusion seam of the
Joint area ofthe ner tre way the fusion seam is situated onthe
de.

The Samples can be produced by sawing, miling, punching,

should be avoided! Atleast § Samples have to be checked per
test
In case of sutfcient overap length at least 3 Samples have to be
checked per side (Fig. 2).

‘The outer texture of the seam (bead, form and evenness over
total seam length) Is to be determined visually futher tothe test,
Furthermore, the essential dimensions (sheet thickness, seam
thickness and seam width) and the statin of the seam
Considering the manufacturing direction ofthe sheets have to Be
Getermined (see section 4.3 of DVS 2228-2),

The test speed is 60 mmnin
During the test the stress strain diagram (deformation measuring
via vansverse convey) i registered. It has to get over the fraction
resp. distincly over the segment limit to calch the deformation
behavior.

4 Evaluation
‘The result is mainly designated to judge the deformation and
{allure behavior of the fusion. Furthermore, the peeling resistance
othe fusion "Ag" can be determined.
441. Types ot Faire
Essentially the folowing types of failure may occur:
= Peeling ofthe seam (2.9, even traction surace in the fusion ls
vel, fraction surface wit tough fraction characteristics as white
fraction, deeply fissured surface...)
~ Elongations andor traction in the basic material outside the
~ Elongations andior ration in the junction area
= Elongations andor fraction in the welding filer on coated
‘Type of talure, especially kind of tracion or traction
characteristics (ough, white or bitle traction) as well as the
Selormation behavor (e.g, elongation, peeing) have to be
recorded for each sample,
442 Strength of used jlnts
‘The peeling resistance is determined via stress strain diagram. n
case of separation the average peeling resistance 18 to be
‘termined according to DIN 53959 and. the average
{separation peeling existance has "Rs tobe calculated.
It results as quotient from the average peeling strength and the
width ofthe sample and has tobe stated in Nim,
In case of elongation or traction of the sample the maximum
stangth achieved is related to the width of the sampla and
inicated in Ninn, In his ease the peeling resistance "Rg" has fo
be provided wit the sign >
