“Social Islami Bank Limited” is the institution where I have started my internship
program. It started on Wednesday, 22nd January, 2020. The internship program was
placed in the Corporate branch of the bank which is situated at Rampura, Dhaka.

I applied for my internship opportunity on 30th December, 2019. On 22nd January,

2020 the Relation-ship Manager of Social Islami Bank Limited, Mr. Azizul Hakim
Chowdhury called me and asked to join from this day. After reaching there, at first I
was instructed to right a joining letter. Then he introduced me to all other employee
there. Then I was assigned under ‘Mr. Nasir Sheikh’ who is the General Banking
Incharge of this branch. A brief discussion has been done with Mr. Nasir Sheikh about
my works, responsibilities and the rules-regulations.

On the very first day, I was given two types of blank forms to study which are used to
open the accounts. Ms. Nusrat Jahan (Executive Officer) told me how an account
number is created. In this branch every account numbers start with 041. This is the
branch code which is provided by the head office. Then there is another three digit
code which indicates the account time. For example 130, 131, 134, 141 are the for
saving account. The codes start with 5 are generally the Fixed Deposit account which
are called Mudaraba Term Deposit (MTD) and the codes stars with 8 are called Super
DPS (For 3, 5, 10 years). After those digits they give a specific customer account
number and the last digit of the account number is generated automatically by their
software named Ababil. I have to write all those numbers so that I can easily identify
the different types of accounts.

Then I was given with the blank forms which are filled with some basic information
of the clients of the banks which I had to fill it up according to the information that
being provided by those clients. It was a bit crucial to understand at first as they were
to be filled correctly with no mistakes at all. Ms Nusrat give me the all necessary
instruction to full fill the form. There are some rules for full filling the forms. They
are 1. Only Capital Letter should be used while filling up the form.
2. Use of fluid should be avoided.
3. Avoid over writing.

At first it seems a little bit unusual to write everything in capital latter but after some
time I got used to it. On that day I filled seven forms of different kinds of accounts.
Then there were some clear instructions about the using of seals and stamps from Ms
Nusrat as she was authorized to carry out all the issues regarding the clients.
According to those instruction I sealed and stamped all the forms which I filled
earlier.

After writhing the forms Mr Kamal Hossian, Junior Officer called me and showed
how to file all the account opening form. They use different files according to the
types of account and the specific customer number. It helps to find any form instantly
whenever they need it.

The filling up of the forms with information was the regular job to do along with
some special task which were also assigned by senior officials. The letter which
comes to the bank or leaves from the bank, are to be documented properly in two
register naming inward and outward register. I also have to do some documentations
of these letters both with inward and outward motive. Special tasks also included
stamping the cheque and other documents too.

Overall it is becoming a great experience as being able to be in an actual working

environment. At first it is a bit tough to adjust being the new comer but now I feel
being pretty well positioned. Learning new things is the best thing being the internee
of an organization and it gets better when I get great personalities surrounded like a
team and I believe my performance is good enough to meet their expectations from
me as an intern.
