 The First Week in Review

By the praise of the Almighty, I was able to acquire an internship position at

very renowned bank named Janata Bank Limited, one of the state-owned commercial banks of
Bangladesh. I had preferred to join Jamuna Future Park Branch, which is just 5 minutes walking
distance from my university. Luckily, honorable bank authority considers my preference as
because of my convenience. Ms. Nadia Akhter has been assigned as my internship supervisor.

Works done:

1. On the very first day, I went through a brief introduction process where my supervisor
eventually gave me an overview of the banking environment including my tasks and
responsibilities. Initially I was assigned in card opening section. The team members noticed
I was bit nervous dealing with customers, so they interacted with me more to make me
comfortable.
2. The next day, I learned about the various banking elements offered by Janata Bank Limited
for their customers. Particularly, Accounts' codes were memorized to recognize them
during the work.
3. My supervisor helped me grasp the debit and credit transactions on the bank's vouchers on
the third day as she worked on the bank server system, posting debits and credits to
accounts. Following that, I did the same thing.
4. I worked with the audit department the remainder of the weekdays. Through those
vouchers, the bank-maintained track of every transaction daily. So, there is one voucher
packet for each working day. Along with the other interns, I categorized all of the branch's
vouchers into categories based on their unique codes. Finally, entered it into the register
book and kept in the storeroom.

Learnings and Achievements

 1. I learned the unique codes for Janata Bank Limited accounts such as Asset Account,
Current Account, Savings Accounts, Savings Staff Account Fixed Deposit Receipt, Loan
Account etc.
2. The audit department's operations were explained to me.
3. On the bank's server, I learned how to post.

Observation/ Reflection:

1. Banking can generally illustrate as the backbone of the national economy. Those are
extremely important jobs. As a result, each task must be completed with care.
2. Each voucher is significant. We had to double-check that the packet contained all of the
coupons and all documented. Our supervisor double-checked our work once more.
3. The Central Bank's audit team will examine the records at the conclusion of the year.
Besides, I've noticed that a specific file in the system can sometimes become corrupted.
That file must be deleted, a new file must be opened, and all transactions must be entered
all over again.
4. Lastly, I noticed a very friendly environment between the employees that surely boost up
their work performance.
