1.) What is research?

 Research is a systematic inquiry to describe, explain, predict and control the

observed phenomenon.
 One thing that we have to pay attention to research is that the heart of the research
is not on statistics, but the thinking behind the research. How we really want to
find out, how we build arguments about ideas and concepts, and what evidence
that we can support to persuade people to accept our arguments.
 Research is a process of systematic inquiry that entails collection of data;
documentation of critical information; and analysis and interpretation of that
data/information.

2.) Differences between Qualitative Research and Quantitative Research.

 Qualitative research is a method of inquiry that develops understanding on
human and social sciences, to find the way people think and feel.
o Quantitative research is a research method that is used to generate numerical
data and hard facts, by employing statistical, logical and mathematical
technique.
 Qualitative data collection methods vary using unstructured or semi-
structured techniques. Common methods include focus groups, individual
interviews, observation or immersion, and diary studies. The sample size is
typically small, and respondents are selected to fulfill a given quota.
o Quantitative data collection methods are much more structured; they include
various forms of surveys – online surveys, paper surveys, mobile surveys and
kiosk surveys, face-to-face interviews, telephone interviews, longitudinal
studies, website interceptors, online polls, and systematic observations. The
sample size is large.
 Qualitative data is not countable. It’s chunks of text, photos, videos, and so
on.
o Quantitative data can be counted as it’s numerical.
 Qualitative research is subjective: describes a problem or condition from the
point of view of those experiencing it
o Quantitative research is objective: provides observed effects (interpreted by
researchers) of a program on a problem or condition.

3.) What is the importance/s of research in my life?

 When you have proper in-depth analysis on any topic, the knowledge is
enhanced. The idea you have might improve because you’re starting to
discover the little things about the topic. It also allows us to distinguish what
are the truths and myths regarding the study, because we, ourselves are
present in the gathering of data. The new and legitimate information that we
find must be shared to others so that they’ll also benefit from it. Because after
all, research is not only for our own good but for the society.
 It is an excellent experience. As we move forward in our higher years in
school, research will always be there. Doing it in the past will make our future
researches much easier and less time-consuming because we’ll be able to
know the do’s and don’ts when making one. In our future jobs, research is
also present. After doing it for countless times, we might be able to finish it
with quality for a short time. When it comes to our daily life, we people,
don’t stop finding answers. Whether it’s formal or informal, we always do
research without realizing it because it’s human nature to never stop seeking
new things.
