Everyone has had a poor exam performance or two. Give two reasons you received a poor

grade.

A lot of time when I do poorly on an exam, not because I don’t know the answers for the

questions but because the time the instructor gives me to complete the exam is unfair, and it

doesn’t allow me to think of the questions more carefully. For example, on finals, I most of the

time do good because I have a long time to complete it. The second reason I do poorly on the

exam, when the short answer questions are not clear, or the multiple-choice questions are really

confusing and you have more than one answer right.

. Do you ensure you review returned exams thoroughly? What are some of the aspects you

analyze when you get your test back?

Yes, I always review my exams, and I look at each question individually even the ones I got

right. I do write some questions I remember right after I finish reviewing and I do go through

them with the prof to keep recognizing them. Sometimes I ask the professor to take it home and

keep, and they agree sometimes. So that would be a great chance for me to understand the type
of questions he brings on exams and also study some questions that will come exactly the same

on the final.

After learning about the different types of pattern errors, are there any that resonate with

you and you have noticed are errors you made in the past?

The errors I always blame my self on them is test taking errors. For example, sometimes I start

with the easiest questions and leave the hard ones to the end, and once I start with the hard ones,

I notice the time is almost going to finish. Another error is when reviewing some questions on

the exam, I feel some questions are not correct. Therefor, I erase them and replace them with

other answers. When I review the returned exams, I discover that the answer I erased is the right

answer and the new one is wrong. Finally, sometimes I do study errors, when I focus on

something and leave other things just because I think they won’t come on the exam. However,

when exam comes, the ones I didn’t study are the ones they come on the exam.
