The Bureau of Jail Management and Penology’s main goal is to direct, supervise, and control the
administration and operation of all district, city, and municipal jails nationwide with pronged tasks of
safekeeping and development of Persons Deprived of Liberty. This is a great responsibility and lifetime
commitment that I am willing to partake in, thus, I would like to apply for Jail Officer 1.

I am Shahana M. Villarba, 24 years of age, single, Filipino and a graduate of Bachelor of Science in
Criminology last April 2018. I passed the Criminologist Licensure Examination given by the Professional
Board of Criminology last December 2018 with a general rating of 78.85%. Having been part of DILG’s
Contact Tracing Team from October 2020- December 2021, it made me realized that helping and
protecting others is more satisfying than prioritizing your own personal needs. As a Contact Tracer, we
did a lot of work that measured our patience and perseverance, and I am proud to say that I passed them
with flying colors. I am self-assured that my skills, aptitude, as well as my knowledge would indeed be an
exceptional match for this position that your respected Bureau of Jail Management and Penology requires
in every applicant for Jail Officer 1 to be able to effectively serve the interest of the community and
promote the general welfare of the society.

I am excited and thrilled to contribute my abilities, talents, and proficiency in motivation towards
teamwork and team effort in the department. I believe that my focus in building strong and professional
relationships with my colleagues has been a beneficial asset throughout my career.
