Ulysses damaged, about 1,000 residents in the coastal area were affected by the storm
surge brought by the typhoon in November 12, 2020 journalists and residents claimed.

Due to the terrible calamity, the town of Dingalan declared a state of calamity after
Typhoon Ulysses destroyed homes and boats that some residents use to earn a living.
The local government is asking for help from the national government to rehabilitate the
homeless residents and unemployed fishermen, according to Mayor Sherwin Taay, they
said their funds were also due to COVID-19 and a series of typhoons. The mayor of
Casiguran, Aurora, Ricardo Bitong, immediately sent aid in response to Dingalan Mayor
Shierwin Taay’s call for help on behalf of the residents affected by the onslaught of
Typhoon Ulysses, Taay appealed for help from other local government executives in
Aurora province after many of his constituents in the coastal town lost their livelihood
and properties.
The rehabilitation was managed by provincial agriculturalist Eladio Buenconsejo and
Arnold Novicio of PGA-PGSO. The Aurora government distributed food packs from
November 20 to 22 in Dingalan. Vice Governor Christian Noveras also conducted a
separate emergency relief operation in Dingalan. Roughly 6,000 families living on the
coast of Dingalan received food packs from the provincial government, he said.
“Together we will stand again as one with helping hands, we will affix the devastation
left by Ulysses,” Noveras said.
