Call for Publication

Lukad: An Online Multidisciplinary Journal of New Literacy

LUKAD is the official open access journal of Philippine Normal University South Luzon,
Philippines. It is a peer-reviewed, interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary journal. The
journal seeks to publish research articles, monographs, and book reviews across the
different topics with special emphasis but not limited to the following:

Technology and Livelihood Education


Culture and Heritage
Education
Critical Pedagogy
Literacy
Local History

The word ‘lukad’ is a tagalog term that refers to a meticulous and laborious way of
extracting coconut meat from the coconut shell by using different technological tools
and processes. This term is appropriate for the Philippine Normal University – South
Luzon (PNUSL) because of its distinct local characteristic and identity. PNUSL is
geographically located in the coconut basket of the Philippines – Lopez, Quezon. As a
national center for teacher education, its mission is to link technology and livelihood
education to philosophical, sociological, historical, psychological and political context.

Announcements

LUKAD: An Online Journal of Tagalog Studies and Philippine Studies is a high quality
open access peer reviewed research journal published by Philippine Normal University
– South Luzon. LUKAD, is a Tagalog term for removing coconut meat through special
utensils. The process involves simple to complex methodologies
so coconut meat comes out whole.

LUKAD Journal views research from a similar lens: scientific, knowledge-based, culture-
oriented, and outcomes-focused. LUKAD Journal champions attempts of researchers,
academicians, professional, practitioners and students to share inquiries in the form of
research papers, case studies, literature reviews and book reviews.

LUKAD Journal will be published online. For January 2020 Issue, LUKAD Journal is
currently accepting submissions in the field of Tagalog Studies and Philippine Studies in
the context of:

Social Science and Humanities, Sociology, Anthropology, Religious Studies, Visual Arts,
Political, Cultural Development, Tourism Management, Public Administration,
Psychology, Philosophy, Political Science, History, Education, Technology and
Innovation, Environmental Studies, Climate Change, Agricultural, Rural Development,
Urban Studies, and others.
Date of Publication: LUKAD Journal inviting papers for Vol. 1 No. 1 scheduled to be
published online in January, 2020.

Guideline Submissions

The journal seeks to publish research articles, monographs, and book reviews across
the different topics with special emphasis but not limited to the following:

Technology and Livelihood Education


Culture and Heritage
Education
Critical Pedagogy
Literacy
Local History

All submissions must address the following guidelines

1. Lukad Journal accepts manuscripts written either in English or Filipino.


2. Submission should contain an abstract (maximum of 300 words) with at least 4
keywords.
3. The journal preferred word count for articles is 9,000 words (maximum), for book
and articles reviews (5000 words).
4. Lukad Journal is a peer-reviewed journal. All submitted manuscripts undergo a
double-blind review.
5. All submissions should be electronically submitted in Microsoft Word
format, double-spaced, Arial as font with 12 as font size
6. Authors must use the 6th APA edition Parenthetical Citation format
7. All manuscripts must be submitted to lukadjournal@pnu.edu.ph
