To Teachers
This module is meant to provide learning activities for pupils who have
to stay at home due to the closing of schools and Movement Control
Order (PKP) or Conditional Movement Control Order (PKPB) and for
teachers to choose suitable activities for pupils when studying at home. It
is created in such a way to assist pupils to learn and at the same time
have a little fun when they learn on their own at home.
The lessons in this module are numbered as Lesson 1, Lesson 2 and so
forth but they may not necessarily done according to the sequence.
Pupils can perform the tasks at their own pace while teachers can choose
which lessons or tasks to be completed during the study-from-home
period. The lessons are planned for different levels of proficiency thus
teachers can select which lessons suit their pupils best.
The learning activities or tasks in this module are light-and-easy,
thought-stimulating and fun-filled. They are more on helping pupils
learning the language skills and scaffolding their thinking skills.
Pupils can refer to dictionary, google dictionary, google translate,
Wikipedia, parents or relatives and other sources to help them complete
the tasks.
It is hoped that this module would be made useful by teachers in the
district of Larut Matang and Selama. Thank You.

Activity C
Now, read the text and as you read, fill in the ‘L’ part (What you have learnt) in the
KWL chart above.
Reading and Its Benefits
1 Do you like to read? When was the last time you read a book, or a magazine
article? Do your daily reading habits centre around Instagram feeds, tweets,
Facebook status, or messages in Telegram or WhatsApp?
2 If you are one of those people who don’t like to read or don’t make a habit of
reading regularly, you might be missing out. Reading has a significant number of 5
benefits, and here are some benefits of reading to get you to start reading.
3
Studies have shown that reading keeps your mind stimulated and this can
slow down the progress of or possibly even prevent Alzheimer’s and Dementia. This
is because reading keeps your brain active and engaged, thus prevents it from losing
power. 10
4
No matter how much stress you have at school, work or other problems
faced in your daily life, it all just slips away when you start reading a great
story book. A well-written novel can transport you to another world, while an
interesting article will distract you from your problems, let tensions drain 15
away and allow you to relax.
5 Everything you read fills your head with new pieces of information, and you
never know when it might come in handy. The more you read, the more knowledge
you have and the better-equipped you are in facing challenges in life. Remember that
although you might lose everything else—your job, your possessions, your money,
even your health—knowledge can never be taken from you. 20
6
In our current internet-crazed world, we tend to multi-task most of the time
and our attention is drawn in different things at once. For example, in a short 5
minutes duration, we will divide our time between performing a task, checking our
emails, chatting with people via Telegram, Skype or Instagram and interacting face to
face with our office mates. All this definitely will cause our stress level to rise and our 25
productivity level to fall.
7 Once you take a book to read, all your attention is focused on the story and the
rest of the world just falls away. You can absorb all the details in the story and you
feel that you are one of the characters in the story.
8 So, why don’t you pick a book today and read it. You will see wonders and 30
realise how much reading a book can give you happiness.

Texting and driving is one of the most dangerous forms of distracted driving. In fact,
the average text sent or read in a car takes a driver's eyes off the road for 5 seconds.
This is more than enough time to get in a life-altering accident
The shocking truth is that texting while driving increases the chances of crashing by
over 23 times normal driving. People have a longer response time when they
text and drive.
Teens may feel pressured to respond even when driving. This need to communicate
instantaneously causes drivers to respond to texts, which leads to distraction and
accidents.
