Module #7:  The Demands of the Covenant

Academic Year 2020-2021

Finals – Module #7:  The Demands of the Covenant
Activity # 1:

1. What we have in common with Israelites is our faith with God despite of challenges.
At first the Israelites were shaken because of the disasters they encountered. Just like
us, we were also shaken by our problem but because we accept God, we eventually
trust God’s plan. Our faith strengthens our relationship with God. Our relationship
with God is not perfect actually. We are tested with a lot of challenging things to shake
our loyalty and faith to Him. While on the desert Israelites encountered different
problems but and the end of the day they still believed in God despite those.

2. The deeper meaning and the significance of the “desert experience” of Israelites is that
it tells us that when our faith to God is lighter, it was difficult for us to survive when
there are challenges. Our life is full of obstacles and challenges but by building and
strengthening our faith to God we will able to surpass those difficult times. It was a
time of not only great difficulty but also grace and blessing because it was when God
poured miracles to those who believed in Him. It was the time of people who lack
spiritual faith but those who believed in God will receive blessings and abundant life.
Activity # 2

A. God commanded Moses to sprinkle blood to the altar and the people. It was the blood
of sacrifice. It symbolized not only dedicating of lives of the Israelites to God but a
holy covenant to God. It is the sealing of the covenant between the Israelites and God. It
stands as the commitment of Israelites with God.
B. Yes, it is necessary for Israelites to know God and love Him. Through knowing God,
Israelites would know the true meaning of salvation and they can obey Him. If they
knew and God loved, they will understand the pain they went through. They will what
is their purpose and what is the purpose of their difficulties.
C. 1. Moses then took the blood, sprinkled it on the people and said, "This is the blood of
the covenant that the LORD has made with you in accordance with all these words."
2. And the Lord has declared this day that you are his people, his treasured possession
as he promised, and that you are to keep all his commands.
3. To this people which He had acquired for Himself, He so manifested Himself through
words and deeds as the one true and living God that Israel came to know by experience
the ways of God with men.

God’s way of giving Israelites another chance so that Israelites could repent with their sins. It

covenant was gone, but God made a new and better covenant, therefore God’s mercy has
extended.
