 Out of Class Civic Engagement Reflection

Actually, i do not like too much civic engagement after class for fearing social
communication activities. But i want to change myself for joining others in my heart.
So I joined in ACCT association, which is aimed at helping student know more
about ACCT and solve their difficulties in accounting.

everyone who want to join in can apply. This month our association make a
questionnaire about “ what is your most interesting question”. We got three answers,
which is the preparation of certificate, the plan of four years’ study and the way to
find meaningful internship experience. So our section plan a speech and invite three
expert senior students to help us. Because i do not join in any items almost 3 months.
I pushed myself worked as the host in this project.

I have not had colorful civic engagements before. In the past, i just volunteer in
communities or subway which is organized by school for every student to enrich our
social life or just follow with music teacher in music club. I have never sign up
myself for these activities initiatively. However this time i need to communicate
draft with my partner and talk in the public. So i was nervous and excited.

But if this time, our association ask for numbers to join in the items. I will sign
up it having more self-confidence without hesitation for having experienced civic
engagement and having deeper involved in the group. Through communicating with
partner about draft, i got a friend and got more confident to talk with strangers. At
the same time, i experienced how to prepare host’s draft and my fist try as a host.
And i challenged myself for talking in front of people. Though i gave myself too
much pressure for first try for ACCT association’s activities, I think that i do a good
job and feel satisfied for getting over my mental difficulties.

I will continue to join in civic engagement. And i believe that one day i will
get over my shyness with too much try.
